Sony mylo - Image 1We've gotten a few interesting bits of information on the new Sony mylo from sources close to the company. These are all unconfirmed, though, so until we hear anything official, we're tagging this report as a rumor.

Anyway, the biggest feature that we hear is coming to the second-generation Sony mylo is the possible integration of PSP software. So, will it be able to run PSP games or will it be limited to PSP firmware and applications? Whatever the extent of integration, it seems the PlayStation brand is spreading onto other Sony devices.

Another interesting tidbit is that Sony seems to be angling to get Sprint as a carrier for the new mylo. Of course, if Sony does get Sprint as a carrier, the mylo's price point could also go up as the original used WiFi networks to reduce connectivity costs. Here are more updates about the new mylo that we got from our sources:
  • New E727 Half-mini card negotiation with Novatel (in-progress)
  • Widget development activities (in-progress)
  • SDK development (in-progress)
  • Developer Program and Developer Community Website.
  • RF technical support (in-progress)
Please keep in mind that these are all just rumors for now. We'll be sure to give you guys more updates as soon as we get them so keep checking back here.

iMac Killer? What is this HP IQ770 that's causing all this buzz in the desktop PC universe? For a newbie in town, it sure disturbs a lot of peace, especially so when it's being tagged as the "iMac Killer".

Now, now, let's not be too hasty about our conclusions. It's better if we actually check out first what this gadget's all about before we go coining nicknames for it. Right? Fine. Let's get to know it then.

Let's see...so it's got a 320GB hard drive, 2Gb SDRAM WiFi, Bluetooth, 1.3 MP camera (integrated, of course), 5.1 digital audio out, integrated FM and HDTV tuners, wireless keyboard and mouse, a widget-like dashboard interface, and 19" touchscreen...No, there's nothing really extraordinary about it.

If you're a noob, that is! Talk about all-in-one! Well, actually, am not much of a techie-person, myself. But I ain't a noob either. But when they started mentioning those wireless keyboard and mouse, that got me sold solid.

Yeah, so what? Some people are easy to please.

But seriously, it comes out by January's end, and it will surely rock the boat of the mighty Mac. With Bill Gates tagging along. For a little under US$ 2000, at that. Let the competition begin! Keep it posted here for more updates.

CHUMBY CHUMBY CHUMBY!!!

Chumby. Intrigued? Chumby. What the hell is it? Chumby! For some bizarre reason, I can't stop saying it! Chumby, Chumby, Chuuuumby! Well, the name really is catchy, but what in blazes is a Chumby? No, it's not a Pokémon, nor is it one of the Teletubbies. It's something you'll least expect! The Chumby is a new device which will take over the world and revolutionize your life! Ok. Wait. Maybe that was a bit over-the-top. Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, but we'll leave it to you to decide.

This curious little device was introduced in the FOO Camp 2006, and has gotten quite substantial feedback (FOO Camp's website is currently overloaded). The Chumby basically tries to relieve users of the need of PDAs and computers. You have developers that create Flash applications, or "widgets" for the Mac savvy, which Chumby-owners can put into their devices. Interestingly enough, it was made to be hackable to encourage user customizability and freedom. The Chumby was designed to be used at home: connect to your wireless network - download RSS feeds, music, updates, and other widgets. It also allows you to check your email, check your blog, or check QJ!

Specs:
  • 266 Mhz CPU
  • 32 MB SDRAM
  • 64 MB Flash RAM
  • 320 x 240, 3 ˝” screen
  • 2W Speakers
  • 2 USB ports
  • Wi-fi
So what impact will this have in the near future? Well, the way it was designed, it seems as if it acts as a PSP or Nintendo DS, but instead of being centered on gaming, the Chumby is more focused on PDA-related tasks. But in the same way that the PSP and NDS have homebrews, maybe in the future, if the Chumby really takes off, we might just have a separate blog for all the homebrew widgets that you can download!

Big expectations for the Chumby!Hardware...Google News on your Chumby!
