Is this a sign of good things to come? A German T-Mobile ad was leaked, indicating a new iPhone variant soon to hit European shores: an iPhone with 16GB of storage and 3G-level 3.6 Mbps internet connection, with both HSPDA and UMTS that is mostly native to Europe. The price tag for the new iPhone is a bit...pricey, however. Compared to the recent iPhone price cut - US$ 399 for the 8GB model - the 16GB model with 3G internet access is set to be priced at 499 Euros, or US$ 687, which is a tad more expensive. According to the ad, T-Mobile will offer three rate plans for potential new iPhone users in Europe (in Germany, at least), named L, XL, and XXL. L offers 200 minutes and 100 SMS messages, costing 50 Euros per month (or US$ 69). XL gives 300 minutes for only 60 Euros (US$ 83) while XXL lets subscribers go crazy with 400 minutes of calls for US$ 96. Of course, this is only a "leaked" ad, so it may be best if you take this with a grain of salt. However, with Apple already promising a formal iPhone launch in Europe for this year's last quarter, this may really be it. |

With Apple's iPhone now out, the Internet rumor mill has turned its attention onto other smartphones. Today we have some interesting - and, please note, unconfirmed - rumors about LG's new Windows Mobile smartphone.According to Arne Hess of The Unwired, the new LG smartphone is reportedly being readied for "a semi-exclusive cross-European launch in September". The phone will reportedly have Windows Mobile 6 Professional as well as UMTS. Furthermore, HSDPA support remains unconfirmed along with the smartphone's supported GSM and UMTS bands. The LG Windows Mobile smartphone is also rumored to have Wi-Fi by default, but some carriers may choose not to activate it. The design will be similar to the LG Prada and will be touchscreen-centric. The final phone will also reportedly not have the joystick or D-pad that the prototype seen at the 3GSM World Congress had. |

To celebrate the Walkman phone series' second anniversary, Sony Ericsson will launch two new additions to the music phone family, packed with features never before seen in any other phone. The W910 is geared for high speed internet access, built with High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA). The W910's new Walkman controls are also its selling point; you can skip tracks, and select songs with just a flick of the wrist. The W910 also features SensMe™, basically a new type of sorting through playlists, categorizing them based on tempo and style rather than artist or album. It also has an integrated visual method of sorting through songs. The W960 on the other hand, is built with Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), as an alternative to the W910's HSDPA. This enables the W960 to receive broadband internet at 2MB per second. The W960 has a sizable storage enough to cram in about 8,000 songs. It also has its own finger-touch navigation feature that lets you manually sort through playlists on a 2.6 inch display. The W960 is outfitted with a 3.2 megapixel camera, ideal for use as viewfinder as well as for widescreen video viewing. As we can see, both the W910 and W960 are designed with new ways of controlling and sorting data. The W910, for one, can be held like a handheld console and has an extra motion sensor feature for its 3D games. As for the W960, its Walkman application has a more in-depth navigation feature using the stylus. Sony Ericsson hasn't released any images for these two phones; but do stay with us as we dig up more information about Sony Ericsson's new music phones! Okay, a Smartphone won't make you smart, but it can certainly make organizing your day-to-day affairs a whole lot easier. Plus it'll add a few points to your slickness factor too. We're thinking that that's the main reason for the sheer amount of Smartphones that are currently out in the market today. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you. Everybody wants to look cool, and if you can get something that'll do that and proves to be useful at the same time, then by all means go for it.
Consumer electronics company Samsung has made a name for itself with its sleek and useful products, and their new full-featured Windows Mobile phone is no exception. Wrapped tightly in the black boxy goodness that Samsung does so well, the unannounced SGH-i760 is a UMTS/HSDPA and tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE slide phone that runs on an SGH-i600 engine and a 520MHz Intel processor. It has Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11b/g WiFi, and an expandable microSD slot. Just like every mobile phone that's been released recently, the SGH-i760 comes with a rear-mounted 2 megapixel camera. It also has a front-facing video camera and a decently-sized 240x320 touchscreen. For input, just slide it open to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. There has been no word yet on pricing or release, but we'll be sure to keep an eye open for any new pieces of info on this black beauty. For a sneak peek, check out the pics below. Enjoy! |

The dual-band smartphone was said to be originally scheduled for an earlier release in North America via Cingular Wireless before the rest of the world but looks like Canadians got a headstart on getting their hands on the handset. The Nokia E62 is said to be the Blackberry/Treo killer and sports a 16 million color 320x240 pixel resolution screen, microSD expansion slot, and Bluetooth. However, it won't have WiFi and UMTS conectivity. What is does have is push email, USB Mass Storage Mode (so it doubles as a hard drive), and Positioning and Navigation apps that are compatible with Bluetooth GPS devices. Other features include QuickOffice for viewing and editing MS apps and the Screen Export feature which allows you to run Powerpoint presentations through your phone and into compatible projectors. The E62 runs on Symbian 9.1 and S60 3.0 and has both GPRS and EDGE data support. And instead of the usual PopPort that Nokia has, this one has a miniUSB. The E62 is currently being offered by Rogers Wireless in Canada for $249.99 (3-year contract), $399.99 (2-year contract), or $449.99 (1-year contract). |

A few days ago, QJ reported on some images of an antenna-less Palm smartphone that lead to rumors that Palm's latest baby is to be released soon. Today, the rumor becomes fact as Treo sets a date for the official release of the Lennon-750 or Treo 750 (official name not confirmed yet), Palm Treo's antenna-less smartphone.Set to take place in a yet undisclosed location in UK, the launch of Palm's newest PDA will happen on the 12th of September. Palm has also disclosed that this device will run on Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC, making it the first Windows Mobile device from Palm to use the GSM/GPRS standard. The Treo 750 will also support UMTS, a 3G wireless-networking standard, most popular in Europe. Some other details about this smartphone has been circulating, but they all can be considered mere speculations for now. For example, Palm recently said that it was going to add short-range wireless networking technology to its smartphones, but has not really committed to any specific model. Hence, it still is a matter of debate if the antenna-less model will indeed have built-in Wi-fi. It supposedly also has a 1.3 megapixel camera and an SD card slot. |

Available exclusively to customers of mobile network operator Orange this month, the market is sure to turn orange with envy over the new SPV M3100. Of course, the fact that it comes with a free monthly plan only hurts more.New and improved with the inclusion of HSDPA (which boosts 3G transfer speeds in the range of 5x), the SPV M3100 runs Windows Mobile 5.0. Adding to its fruity appeal is the incorporated Wi-Fi 802.11g for blazing speeds at short range, while its tri-band UMTS support promises delivery of high-speed data. For some zest factor, the model has a slide-out landscape thumbboard, with a 2.8 inch touchscreen and a range of messaging, scheduling and productivity applications. Also included is a 2 Megapixel camera with autofocus, music player with MP3 and WMA support. It also features 128 MB of ROM, 64 MB of RAM, a micro SD memory card expansion, and a Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity with dial-up networking, headset and stereo headset support. And that's only mentioning a few. No doubt, the new SPV M3100 is set to show the world just how smart a phone it really is. |
