Space Invaders Taito - Image 1The Japanese really know some good ways on how to commemorate their games: in a tie up with SD card maker Hagiwara, Taito is doling out demos of their Space Invaders spin-off title Invader Chain for every purchase of specially-marked Hagiwara MicroSD cards. It's a good way of letting fans remember Space Invaders on its 30th anniversary. Read more about it in the full article.

Sometimes, it's nice to play old computer games; they're quite simplistic, but the gameplay on some of them is really great, and they remind you of your childhood. PlayPhone recognizes this, and so brings us some of the great old games of the past, like Space Invaders and such, in mobile gaming format.

Rod Czerny, chief executive officer at PlayPhone, says that making these classic games on mobile format is a great way to be able to play these games without being tied to a console or an arcade machine. He adds that:

Simple gameplay and one or two button controls work so nicely on the mobile platform, serving to satisfy the old school player and introduce a whole new generation to Taito’s timeless game catalog.

Anyone who has a mobile phone will be able to download the said classic games. These are: Space Invaders, 3D Space Invaders, Bust–a–Move, Arkanoid, Bubble Bobble, Chase H.Q. 3D, Qix, Elevator Action 3D, and The Legend of Kage. These may be old games, but they offer a refreshing change of pace after the next-gen console console diet that all of us have been ingesting these days.
