Offering wide scale upgradability and options for users to plug in parts for added performance, ASUS C90 basically broke the mindset of the non-upgradeable laptop by significant measures. But since ASUS and MSI-branded lappies have offered such features before, the C90 probably leads the rest with a rich feature set and the curves to boot. The C90, although configurable, can actually go up to Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6800 while being merry with an NVidia DX10 compliant 8600GT graphics chip with 256 MB of memory. An MXM graphics swapping concept allows the video capabilities to be expanded with a simple switch of the module. S-Video, VGA and HDMI are all supported by the C90 - especially the new and improved HDMI 1.3 - while the graphics system also revolves around a built-in TV tuner. Memory is a no-brainer for the C90 as it supports all the way up to 3 GB of DDR2 memory, while sporting a four (yes four) fan ventilation unit right behind the LCD screen to keep heat from frying the sleek monster. It also boasts E-SATA interfacing, PS2 and USB connectivity, and IEEE 802.11n wireless networking support. Bluetooth connectivity is also provided, while ASUS nests a 2.0 megapixel camera right on top of the 15.4-inch, 1680x1050 resolution LCD screen. A finger print reader is adds to the features of the C90, while both HD-DVD drives and Blu-Ray can both replace the standard issue DVD burner. The barebone version of the laptop might reach up to US$ 1500, PC Perspective reports, although it should make up for the costs with ASUS standard issue overclocking customizations. And PC Launches reports that a C90 is offered up on E-Bay right this instant. |

HP is trying its hand at innovating the laptop industry. While most of its competitors go for portability and style, the HDX Pavilion is a true dragon of the genre. It's not ashamed to weigh 15.5 pounds and be 2.3-inches thick. It has all the heavyweight specs to back it up. The Pavilion runs with a 2.4Ghz Core Duo Centrino, two 200GB SATA hard drives, 4GB of RAM, a 256MB Radeon Mobility graphics card, a HD-DVD Drive, Bluetooth connectivity and a 20.1 inch monitor just to give you a hint of what this baby is made of. HP touts it as a total entertainment laptop. Unfortunately, it also has a hefty price point. Unless you own oil fields or something, this will devastate your finances. Be content with your home theatre if you're not raking in the dough by the truckloads. |

Connected over SATA 3.0 interface, this 200 GB, 7200 RPM laptop hard drive was designed with enterprise servers and RAID network storage in mind. But because it's just 2.5 inches high, you could slap it right into your current mobile computing buddy, or (gasp!) your trusty PlayStation 3.This hard drive hangs on performance, so expect it to deliver only the best in data transfer efficiency, data integrity measures and even a digital free fall meter (just in case you drop the poor thing) to immediately retract the head from the platter before impact occurs. And while we stare at official press release from the same guys who brought you the world's thinnest LCD, we'd also like to share that this roomy drive sports perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) for your data writing reliability comfort, a rotary vibration controller (RVC) for the gamers live inside maracas, and native command queuing (NCQ) for excellent hard drive performance. Utilizing the industry's highest maximum-density-per-disk at 100 GB, the disk can use up to two platters, bringing up your byte storage space to 200 GB and comes in either a 8 MB or a 16 MB cache. It comes in cheaper 80 GB, 120 GB and 160 GB versions, too. The drive is scheduled for mass production this coming May. |

Some might say that the advantage of the desktop over the laptop is that almost all the aspects of your desktop could be upgradeable. Well, Asus has that in mind, and that's probably the reason why they came up with a laptop that is user-upgradeable.
NotebookReview reports that over at the Asus labs, they were able to try out the Asus C90 desktop replacement style notebook. The C90 is one of the few customizable notebooks around and this baby will use the Intel Conroe processor platform. It would also allow customers to buy the barebones version of the C90 notebook and drop in the components that they want. But still, here are the C90's basic specs:

Alienware makes developers drool and accountants pat their pockets as the extreme gaming PC brand tout their latest Banzai runners catering to the people attending the 2007 Game Developers Conference. While these puppies were made to roll-over for developers, you can't quite shake off the feeling that the system would be a nasty addition to your computing collection. Workstations, playstations; with quad-core Intel Xeons, Core 2 Duo Mobile, and AMD Opterons, the MJ-12 8550i, m5790, and MJ-12 8550a (resectively) all pack the multi-core powerhouse needed for creating games and playing them. Graphics are powered by FireGL and Quadro FX cards, with the Radeon X1900 for the laptop. Seeing CryEngine 2 on one of these is bound to be a visual tart. And what about those SAS drives? SATA never had it this good. Of course, these things cost an arm, a leg and your noggin', so we guess you could always settle for the cheaper options. For more info, click the "Read" link below. |

You gotta love rumors confirmed. Mac OS Rumors started combing the grapevine and all their sources clean of whatever juice they could squeeze out, until they were able to confirm that the "MacBook Thin" (a) exists, and (b) has specs that (c) would probably make the "Thin" "the fastest, most feature-rich ultraportable laptop on the market". Probably because it's a Pro in a smaller package. Here are the specs that Mac OS Rumors were, so far, able to confirm from American and Southeast Asian sources. Start drooling.
