Windows Vista

Sure, Windows Vista looks a lot different to XP. It looks sleeker, smoother and all-around better equipped, just like XP did at launch when compared with Windows 2000. It's easy to just assume that Windows Vista is better just because it looks nicer, but as investigated by TechRepublic, from a file management aspect, Windows Vista has much more to offer than a pretty face. The addition of toolbar buttons such as 'burn' make it much easier when performing everyday operations, and helps you do most things in one-click rather than XP's style of wizards and option menus. The extra toolbar which houses the 'burn' button also has Organize, Views, and Share buttons built in to increase Vista's functionality. The search feature has also been improved, with advanced searches much more customizable, as they should be, than in XP. You can search anything from contacts, attachments and RSS feeds down to Movies, links and recorded TV. If you perform the same search often, you can even save the search in the new toolbar for quick access. Overall, Vistas new file management offers much more customizability, whilst keeping ease of use and one-click buttons, great for beginners and expert users alike. Information about files has also been improved, with titles, author and company details available in the normal Windows Explorer view if you choose to have it. Vista sounds great and apart from the large system requirements which may see your laptop lagging behind PC's or newer laptops, roll on Vista! |
