Samsung patents watch-phone - Image 1 Well if Samsung can combine a cellphone with an optical-zoom camera, why not a cellphone and a watch? Sounds like something from James Bond or Inspector Gadget, but that's the new gadget that Samsung has recently patented.

The patent for a "wrist wearable type portable terminal" describes... well... a cellphone attached to a wristwatch. That's pretty much it. The device has two main parts: one at the top of the wrist and one at the bottom, the two connected by a wristband.

The bottom part acts as the power supply and the top part is the cell phone itself, which can be detached from the watch. (What, you didn't think that you'll have to put the watch to your ear did you? Kinda awkward.)

Still, considering the diminutive size it would be interesting to see how it would work and how well it would perform. With something that small, one has to worry about reception, not to mention volume, and how long the batteries would last.
