Keeping tabs on the prospect of another Castlevania game in the works? Then here's another tidbit that Konami Digital may have thrown our way: another registered trademark in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has been found to be bearing the title Castlevania on it. According to a patent filed by the company, Samsung has a new cell phone in the works that works with hand gestures. We don't know how exactly this mobile phone would work, but we're pretty interested to see it in action. More details in the full article.

Hardware pirates are about to get another force to contend with: The new EPIC chip locking system developed by computer engineers at the University of Michigan and Rice University. The latest cool find this time is from Research in Motion: a new BlackBerry device with a sliding keyboard. The gadget looks so sweet, we wish that there will be no patent infringement lawsuits would spring up to mar the possibility of this device getting launched for public consumption. Remember earlier this month when a patent file by Blizzard was found? The patent described a virtual network telecommunications service called BattleChat for World of Warcraft. Well if Samsung can combine a cellphone with an optical-zoom camera, why not a cellphone and a watch? Sounds like something from James Bond or Inspector Gadget, but that's the new gadget that Samsung has recently patented.

The patent for a "wrist wearable type portable terminal" describes... well... a cellphone attached to a wristwatch. That's pretty much it. The device has two main parts: one at the top of the wrist and one at the bottom, the two connected by a wristband.

The bottom part acts as the power supply and the top part is the cell phone itself, which can be detached from the watch. (What, you didn't think that you'll have to put the watch to your ear did you? Kinda awkward.)

Still, considering the diminutive size it would be interesting to see how it would work and how well it would perform. With something that small, one has to worry about reception, not to mention volume, and how long the batteries would last.
