AMycall's PS3 mobile phone - Image 1If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Amycall's mobile offering is going for the gold. The phone manufacturer's PS3 phone carries other concepts "borrowed" from other consoles, the details of which you can pick up over in the full article.

Bloody pirates. Bloody gaming phones pirates. It is they, without a doubt, who cause cause severe headaches to companies. Although sometimes, it's hard not to marvel at their ingenuity. Do you remember the phone V191 from an anonymous Chinese manufacturer? The name's from Motorola and the look's from Sony PlayStation Portable.

Turned out, that's not the worst one. Somewhere in Asia, there's this mobile phone manufacturer called Anycall with their hybrid phone known as |Anycall 5200. We say hybrid because we honestly are seeing a lot of similarities compared to more established products. Some of which are:
  • A Windows Mobile-like Operating System
  • Sony Ericsson-looking back side
  • Sony PSP logo
  • Samsung F520 double slider
  • Loaded with NES games
  • Dual-band GSM 900 / 1800
  • 3.0 megapixel camera
  • Support for up to 2GB of memory
  • A touchscreen interface
We're pretty sure this Anycall 5200 won't be officially making its way to the U.S. or Europe, or any other place aside from certain markets in Asia. But still, we have to give it to the company for, err, "paying homage" to established brands and companies.

Is your mobile getting a bit boring? Well, something in Capcom's additions to its mobile roster might catch your eye.

During its annual Gamer's Day event, Capcom announced four new titles for the mobile platform. Midori Yuasa, president of Capcom Interactive offered some insight into the company's plans for the mobile:

We feel strongly that our continued success in mobile must come through quality of product, diversity in our portfolio, true innovation in design and seamless deployment. The titles we announced today do an excellent job of illustrating the scope and breadth of our product offerings, and our commitment to the mobile space.

Here's the line-up:

Shade II is another fantasy MMORPG for the mobile. Think of it as an expansion - there will be new features that will add to the immersive gameplay. Players can choose between melee weapons, ranged weapons, spells, and healing specializations. Want a mount or a vehicle? Shade II also features boats and steeds for getting from point A to point B faster. It also boasts of PvP and cooperative modes, as well as clans and private messaging. This will be available for BREW and Java enabled mobiles by Q1 next year.

Those who are old enough to play Mega Man II on the NES will certainly enjoy the shot of nostalgia. Players will get 14 level of side scrolling action with eight robot bosses. Of course, Dr. Wily is also in attendance. Mega Man II will be released for BREW and Java handsets this June.

Another nostalgic title is Street Fighter II. Can you remember those days at the arcade fighting Ryu, Chun Li, E Honda, Guile, Dhalsim, Blanka, Zangief, and Ken? Let's hope you don't mash up your mobile's buttons as this is guaranteed to be an exact copy of the coin operated game. Street Fighter II is set to challenge you this June on BREW and Java handsets.

Who wants to be a millionaire? The popular game show is coming to the mobile once again with Millionaire Music Edition. So how much of a music geek are you? Time to test your knowledge with 1,000 questions ranging from pop to obscure. Millionaire Music Edition will allow players four life lines: Ask the Audience, Phone a Friend, 50:50, and the new Switch a Question. This will come to mobiles by the middle of May.

And you can check out Capcom's teaser video for its upcoming mobile titles below. Enjoy!

mgsOne of IGN's quirks that they openly share with the public is their Top 10 Tuesday stints, where they make a weekly countdown of anything and everything related to games and gaming. While some are educational, exceptional, and even absurd, there are some that are just, how do we describe this, uh...fascinating? Yes. That's the word that comes closest to mind, fascinating.

For this week, they countdown the top ten videogame ringtones that grace your cellphones. Makes sense actually, since some games' themes are already stuck in your head anyway so why not make it your ringtone as well, eh? Here's the list:

10) Overworld Theme from Super Mario Bros. - we have to agree that this one's definitely a classic. This writer has personally heard of someone who can even play this tone on the guitar. Hail the guitar geek extraordinaire.

9) Tetris' Music A - also a classic, but as a ringtone, it can be a bit too frantic. We suggest that people who are heavily loaded on caffeine should NOT use this as their ringtone.

8) Stage One of Doom -  still recognizable, yet a bit obscure. Fast enough without pressuring you get frantic while answering your phone. This will also help you detect fellow die-hards if they nod in acknowledgement upon hearing your ringtone.
