If you're the type who sticks to microSD, here's a great device if you want some extra space for those devices that would require you to use Pro Duo cards: the PhotoFast CR-5300, a microSDHC to Pro Duo adapter. Note the HC there: that means the adapter will support microSDs that are up to 8 GB large. More details in the full article. |

Sony Ericsson has announced the latest in its P-series smart phone, the Sony Ericsson P1. The fifth generation of the P-series smart phone is lauded to be the most feature-rich yet among the line.Steve Walker, Head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson, describes the company's latest smart phone: In one sense the Sony Ericsson P1 is an evolution of our P-series smartphones, as it pushes forward the best attributes of its predecessors. At the same time there are also significant improvements in design, speed and battery performance. The P1 is about 25% smaller than the P990, and supports consumer and corporate email, WLAN, and VoIP. Of course, no smart phone would be as smart without multimedia capabilities, that's why the P1 is geared with a 3.2 megapixel camera with business card scanner, media player, and 512MB Memory Stick Micro. Some of its other features include the following:
Walker further states, It's the details that set these phones apart. Our designers have taken inspiration from nature and the Nordic light to produce phones that are beautiful to look at and alive with energy. They appeal to those who want to celebrate their individuality and express themselves through their choice of phone. The T650 is a 3G phone with 3.2 megapixel camera and media player, and comes in Growing Green and Midnight Blue. As for the S500, it houses a 2.0 megapixel camera that is hidden by the slider, and comes in Mysterious Green and Spring Yellow. No details yet as to when these units will be shipped, or for how much. No pictures to revel in, either. We'll be sure to keep you posted on these three, though. |

Sony "memsticks" get a whole new upgrade as they double the (old?) 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo to a whopping 8GB of memory. For a piece of silicon that small, to say it was packin' a lot would nominate you for the Understatement of the Year award. Sony Japan dubs this as the "MSX-M8GS," and it's only available to modern Sony products. What about PSP users? Well, as long as you've got firmware version 2.81 (and above) up and running, you will be able to enjoy 8GB of freedom. Well, actually you get 7.35GB of freedom, after some file allocation and formatting. Expect the access performance to hit a minimum low of 15MBps. Sony says that Cybershot digital cameras and Vaio laptops won't be able to handle this puppy unless they were released in 2007. New launches reports that the 8GB package will be sold in Japan starting March 9, 2007 for ¥ 38,000 or (get ready for it) US$ 325.63. 326 smackeroos! Hells bells! |

With a little delay, Sony is now shipping out the new Memory Stick Entertainment Packs we've reported earlier. They come in 1GB or 2GB sizes, together with a launcher DVD. You'll use an unlock code to transfer the movies contained on the DVD to your PSP. In the newest edition of the Memory Stick Entertainment Packs, four movies are included - "S.W.A.T.", "XXX: State Of The Union", "The Grudge", and "Hitch". The 1GB pack is going to cost you $47, while the 2GB one retails at $77. The packs are also usable with other devices utilizing the Memory Stick format - Sony's digital cameras, camcorders, and Sony Ericsson phones. It's likely that Sony will release even more Entertainment Packs in the future, albeit their price point is of course debatable. Still, you can't complain about having more variety available when it comes to PSP software. |

In an attempt to get more gamers into their market, Orange is now offering their latest Sony Ericsson K610i with free game demos from Sega. Apparently, the said handset was designed specifically for gamers so Orange decided to include game demos such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Chu Chu Rocket to be available for free download. Sega wallpapers and ringtones are nonetheless also available. The phone itself is not that bad, with a 2megapixel camera, media player, memory Stick Micro support. The K610i also has push email to keep you updated on incoming email, and allows for PC synchronisation. The 3G handset comes in three colors: Misty White, Urban Silver, and Evening Red. If you do decide to download one of the games ('coz you just can't get enough of Sonic), Orange will give you a £10 money-off voucher (that's roughly $19 for us) for you to spend on downloading a Sega game when you purchase their K610i. |

Sony Ericsson's new flipper, W43S, designed to make heads flip and jaws drop, now boasts of a "Style-Up panel" which has 12 LEDs on the front surface. We can't assure you that your heads will turn and flip over this but it will most probably catch your eye, with its different lighting system that glows whenever there's activity in your mobile. The W43s sports a 2.7" screen with a 262 color TFT display and has a 2 megapixel camera that has auto-focus and digital zoom. The phone also features RealityMax, which ensures the quality of the images you take. Sadly, the W43s only has up to 42MB worth of storage, but not to worry coz it has a memory stick expansion slot which allows you to store up to 4GB of data. The phone supports MP3 playback as well as other music formats which you can listen to continuously for up to 24 hours. The phone also has an 'au' port and comes in 16 different shades with different patterns for the Style-Up panel. So if you're interested in getting one of these and by some twist of fate you end up in Japan ( the only place where these babies are available as of the moment), we suggest you drop by KDDI's office or Okinawa Cellular Telephone Corporation. It's a shame though that the rest of us would have to wait before it's released in other countries. |

Sony has announced its new Memory Stick Entertainment Packs. (We told you about the previous batch here.) These contain either 1GB or 2GB Memory sticks bundled with an installer DVD. This is (obviously) a collaboration between Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Sony Electronics.Aside from being able to use the Memory Sticks in devices such as Sony's digital cameras, camcorders and some Sony Ericsson phones, you can also use these to watch movies in your PSP. The Packs come with installer DVDs for PCs which contain four Sony movies, one of which you can access with the complimentary unlock code, and then transfer to your PSP's Memory Stick media. The movies included in the Memory Stick Entertainment Pack are "S.W.A.T.," XXX: State of the Union," "The Grudge" and "Hitch." The 2GB and 1GB Memory Stick Entertainment Packs will become available next month and will cost $100 and $60 respectively. |
