Here's a cool feature for what's to come in mobile tech. Microvision has recently announced the release of their miniature digital projector - that little device on the right. The projector, according to Microvision, is designed to be embedded in future generation cell phones and PDAs, allowing users to beam images of their videos onto a nearby flat screen - like a wall. And to give you guys an idea of the unit's size, that rectangular object beside it is actually a mint chocolate piece. Since the thing is still a prototype, don't expect to find it in your shops anytime soon. However, for the guys who want a closer look, Microvision will be unveiling this gadget on this week's CES event in Las Vegas. Given the other previous announcements regarding the CES, we're expecting it to be something a tech fan's Nirvana for the next few days. Still, it would have been cool to see this thing mounted on a PSP or DS, and the possibilities it could mean for modding. Just think - Projector + GPS Pack = Shion's palm pilot from Xenosaga. |

GDC or Game Developers Conference has been expanding in the last few years in terms of events, locality and focus. It would be remembered that mobile entertainment took spotlight back in 2002 when the organizers had included GDC Mobile in its official roster of events.Next year's gathering is no different as the partial list of participating companies was just revealed. Aside from giants Microsoft and Sony, other confirmed attendees include Ericcson, Motorola, I-play and Nvidia among others. GDC Executive Director Jamil Moledina declares, "The objective for GDC Mobile, as it is for the entire GDC, is to provide a program designed primarily to empower individual game creators with hands-on development details and unveilings of bold breakthroughs." Furthermore, GDC Mobile will be host to over 50 lectures, keynotes, panels and round tables looking at various aspects of the medium. "The GDC has grown to become the world's largest game industry-only event and GDC Mobile has quickly stamped its claim as the leading conference dedicated to mobile interactive entertainment development," Moledina added. GDC is to be held March 5 to 6 next year, in Las Vegas, Nevada. |

A lot of people can't seem to function properly without their BlackBerry nowadays and nobody can blame them. The thingamajig is able to check your emails and it doubles as a cellphone. Handy, right? Well, not this one. What is arguably the world's biggest BlackBerry is housed in the Nextel Store at Las Vegas' Convention Center Monorail Station. And this one is not just for show, it actually works too, just like that gargantuan iPod in Ohio. Well, something like this could only be found in a place like Vegas...but remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. |
