Now we were pretty skeptical ourselves when we first heard of this mobile phone making a ruckus online, but when we viewed the specs on this mini mobile gem, our noses bled. The features touted by this model of the Deeda next-gen mobile line is tantalizing enough to probably stake a claim to be an iPhone contender. Now we know "Deeda" isn't as catchy a brand as "Apple," but then names have little to do with many things nowadays. It's like the computer hardware industry: new name, new game. But since the Deeda Pi phone (interestingly rhyming with "iPhone") caters to a wide range of users, it just might be safe to say that this smartphone, learning from the Wii, is handing itself over as a broad market item. Of course, people have been skeptical as to how this phone could ever kill Steve Jobs' iconic i-products, but since Deeda hasn't featured any Hollywood actor in its publicity stunts, we'll give it a chance to strut its stuff. It's got stuff for mobile gamers: vibration touch feedback, a joystick accessory and a 3.6-inch true widescreen LCD. It's got stuff for the mobile geek: custom OS, device customization through the OS, 2-megapixel camera, WiFi, UPnP, and expandable mass memory. And it's got stuff for the music lover on the go: 60 GB of memory, media player with high-quality audio speakers, two memory slots for SD and MMC cards, and a universal media extender. While many like to be skeptical of such a device, we wouldn't want to bar such a beauty from entering the market. Crab mentality isn't our apple pie. Open-source makes for lots of possibilities for this hopeful device, and when Deeda does ship this out to the open, we'll be looking for it - as long as it doesn't evaporate into thin air, of course. |

Here's a ring for all pop-culture mavens: Scene it? is now available to test your movie wits through your mobile phone. Namco Networks and Screenlife LLC have announced that the insanely popular DVD board game will have a mobile reincarnation aptly named Scene It Movie Edition."Scene It? Movie Edition is unlike any trivia game currently available. It's the first game with multimedia game play available on North American mobile phones, and we are very excited to be bringing such a great game to the mobile platform." says Scott Rubin of Namco Networks. The game uses multimedia resources to generate the premise in which players can relieve moments from top Hollywood flicks and test their knowledge on themed questions. The game is packed with over a thousand questions which employ the use of movie clips, puzzles and trivia. What's unique about the game is that its library of questions keep on growing as you please. Through network technology, new morsels of pop knowledge can be added for updated play. The same technology is also used so that players can duke it out with each other and find out who the real expert is. Memorable categories from the original such as Invisibles, Take 3, Rising Star are back, along with new gameplay modes which will have players scratching their heads for answers in either quick round or non-stop play. Dave Long of Screenlife says "the mobile version I Movie Edition is movie trivia at its very best, fans of Scene It? will be pleased at how well their favorite DVD board game translates to mobile. It has all of the entertaining, interactive elements of the DVD version combined with the mobile game quality that fans have come to expect from Namco, making Scene It? for mobile a great game that can now be played anywhere." The game is now available from selected wireless carriers nationwide. |
