Exit Games - Image 1

Aiming to provide a more universal multiplayer gaming experience, Exit Games has developed a way of connecting multiple - not to mention very diverse - platforms using its new Flash Library technology.

Exit Games' Neutron multiplayer platform will enable players to get connected and play with each other using their mobile phone, browser, PC, Wii or even PS3. Sounds like a good deal? Yes indeed. "Cross-platform connectivity enables our customers to build game communities that reach over three billion devices, making Neutron a much anticipated multiplayer solution for true mass market casual gaming," said Harald Behnke, Exit Games' CEO.

Exit Games has an impressive track record on mobile gaming, including Penalty Cup 3D, where mobile users all over the world get connected and play World Cup over GPRS. The mobile games provider also hosts games in various Asian countries.

This cross-platform multiplayer function will be featured in the Leipzig Games Convention (Hall 1, Booth 151 in case you'll be able to drop by), and you can be sure that we'll cover it for you. Until then, stay tuned!

Hello Moko!Steve Jobs has his iPhone. It's got iPod, it's got wireless, (it's got no 3G), and it's got your attention - not to mention US$ 600 of your money. But that's Apple. Stevie hasn't mentioned (yet) if the iPhone will be open to third-party applications. Still, the iPhone is one alternative - the proprietary one. But here's another, and it's open source.

Meet OpenMoko's FIC Neo1973 Smartphone - "the world's first integrated open-source mobile communications platform". "For the first time, the mobile ecosystem will be as open as the PC, and mobile applications equally as diverse and more easily accessible," says Sean Moss-Pultz, architect of OpenMoko and Product Manager of FIC's Mobile Communication Business Unit.

Like any good smartphone, the Neo1973 offers the usual slate of communications tools for the businessman on the go - push email and PIM, cellular, and so forth. By being open-source, though, it promises to accept a range of software, including and especially just like your PC. Thank goodness then for 64MB of NAND flash memory to store it in. Hmm... open-source MP3 player?

Other features of an open-source cellphone after the jump!

Exit Games-Darts

Exit Games, a provider of mobile games and other entertainment software, has just announced that they will be bringing their services to the Japanese market.

Some of you might remember Exit Games from Penalty Cup 3D, wherein their mobile multiplayer solution called Neutron made it possible for mobile users all over the globe to play ala-World Cup via GPRS connectivity. Exit Games has previously worked on bringing their casual games to other Asian countries such as India, Hong Kong, and Singapore. And now, they're extending their multiplayer services to Japan as well, with Brick Challenge, Catapults, and Darts.

The said games will be published by Media Socket Inc., a mobile games developer in Japan. Rikiya Takigasaki, International Business Development Manager of Media Socket, says, "Exit Games Neutron is the platform of choice because it enables global multiplayer gaming and connects users regardless of device."

Tom Sperry, CEO of Exit Games USA, remains highly optimistic about their entry to the Japanese market as well, saying that "The release of Brick Challenge, Catapults and Darts in Japan marks an important step in our approach to bringing sophisticated multiplayer gaming experiences to the world’s largest and most advanced mobile markets."

Okay, a Smartphone won't make you smart, but it can certainly make organizing your day-to-day affairs a whole lot easier. Plus it'll add a few points to your slickness factor too. We're thinking that that's the main reason for the sheer amount of Smartphones that are currently out in the market today. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you. Everybody wants to look cool, and if you can get something that'll do that and proves to be useful at the same time, then by all means go for it.

Consumer electronics company Samsung has made a name for itself with its sleek and useful products, and their new full-featured Windows Mobile phone is no exception. Wrapped tightly in the black boxy goodness that Samsung does so well, the unannounced SGH-i760 is a UMTS/HSDPA and tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE slide phone that runs on an SGH-i600 engine and a 520MHz Intel processor. It has Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11b/g WiFi, and an expandable microSD slot.

Just like every mobile phone that's been released recently, the SGH-i760 comes with a rear-mounted 2 megapixel camera. It also has a front-facing video camera and a decently-sized 240x320 touchscreen. For input, just slide it open to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. There has been no word yet on pricing or release, but we'll be sure to keep an eye open for any new pieces of info on this black beauty. For a sneak peek, check out the pics below. Enjoy!

Four new HTC handsets were announced just this September 7th: two PocketPC models (P3300 and P3600) and two smartphones  (S620 and S310).  It's a good thing that the company has decided to diss their cryptic handset naming, as we saw with their first two models, the TyTN and MTeoR. Anyhoo, no need to expound on that, let us present to you already their four new handsets and the features that each of them sports:

p3300The HTC P3300 (aka Artemis) is a quad-band PDA phone and runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 OS PocketPC Edition. It comes with a pre-installed TomTom Navigator 6 GPS application and is available in two versions: Taster and Premium.

Taster only has one preinstalled city while the Premium version has a complete set of maps for Western Europe. The P3300 has 2.8" TFT display and a 2megapixel camera on the back. It also has FM radio and can connect via GPRS,EDGE, WiFi, and USB. It has 128 internal memory and a microSD card expansion slot.

p3600

The quad-band 3G-enabled P3600 model runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 for PocketPC and has HSDPA support. It sports a 2.8" LCD touchscreen display, a 2 megapixel camera for photos and a VGA one for video calls. Connectivity options include EDGE, GPRS, Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth. The P3600 also has 128 MB of internal memory and has a Mini SD card expansion slot.

S620

The S620, or better known as Excalibur, is also a quad-band and run on Windows Mobile 5.0. It has a QWERTY keyboard, a 2.4" QVGA display in landscape mode, a 1.3 megapixel camera on its back. The phone has 64 MB RAM and 128 MB internal memory but also provides a microSD card slot. Like the previous two, the phone's connectivity options are GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth (with A2DP). The HTC S620 is said to be designed to compete with devices with Samsung i320, Motorola Q and Nokia E61.

s310

A quad-band smartphone of a lower class is the HTC S310 (aka Oxygen), which has a display resolution of 176 x 220 pixels and like the others, runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone. The 1.3 megapixel camera is found on the back, and like the three other handsets mentioned above, connectivity won't be a problem as this phone has EDGE, GPRS, USB and Bluetooth support. Internal memory has the size of 64 MB but can be expanded via the miniSD card slot.

We don't know yet how much these four handsets will cost, all we know is that these four new HTC handsets will be available in Q4 2006.
