You want some cool new peripherals for your portable audio gizmos? Then check out these newbies on the block from Eleksen. They have just announced the launch of their new smart fabric modules that is molded to cater to your discerning audio gadgets tastes. The first one is their electronics module for FM radio. It's basically a stand-alone FM radio unit, whose control is based on the new ElekTex fabric sensor, with the Interface technology incorporated in it. This Elektexis an electro-conductive fabric touchpad, and can be used as a kind of housing protector for your electronic gadget. The sensor on its jacket sleeve or backpack handle allows you to control your gadget from your pocket. And then, there's an "updated electronics modules for iPod and iPod + Bluetooth devices." Another add-on for the ever-popular iPod, eh? Let's see how this measures up. Now, this also takes advantage of the ElekTex sensor, which, as explained earlier, can be embedded into a lot of other apparel and soft-goods accessories. To be more precise, it is "programmable and compatible with a range of electronics including iPods, smartphones, and other personal digital devices." That's all the info we have on this for now, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on more bits as they come. |

In the past, bigger was always better. As technology found a way to make them things tinier, smaller seems to have gotten more attention. The world's smallest cellphone called Haier Elegance has just launched in the UK.Lightweight contender Haier Elegance measures in at 9.1 x 3.5 x 1.8cm (3.58 x 1.38 x .71 in) and weighs in at 64g, though it sure packs a mean left hook. The mobile has a built in MP3 player (built in memory 128MB) with expandable memory options by 1GB Micro SD, an FM tuner, Bluetooth (stereo), OLED display plus Tri-Band GSM. The size has sadly affected battery life - three hours of talktime and 11 hours of MP3 playback. Haier Elegance is currently being offered by Unlocked Mobiles at 164.99 GBP (or around US$ 326). Check out the video from T3 TV for a quick preview of the phone. Hmm... Stubby fingers might not be so advisable on this mobile phone. |

While it does look a bit like a calculator, the Grundig B700 manages to pack in quite a lot of goodies into its rather thin housing. Measuring in at less than half an inch thick, the Linux-powered B700 features the requisite QWERTY keyboard and 2-megapixel camera with 4x zoom that you can find in almost every smartphone today. It also features a POP3 Email Push Client and a program called SureType, which works almost exactly like the Blackberry. Other features include mp3 playback capability, FM radio receiver, and a 2.4-inch QVGA screen. While the B700's internal memory is only a mere 100MB, the inclusion of a Micro SD card slot means that you can expand it to 1GB. The B700 also has Bluetooth connectivity, as well as a USB port that'll come in handy when you need to transfer files between your smartphone and PC fast. |

Shiny
Awards. The name may not sound like much to you, but it's the Oscars of
the techie gadget world. Hosted by none other than Shiny Media, the most
recent award ceremonies was held at London, the night of February 21,
2007. LG, with their Chocolate mobile phone, Roberto Cavalli LG phone and the BH100, bagged two wins, a runner up spot, and the lovely and equally stunning Colleen over there. Of the most notable, and laughable, highlights during the night was the wicked ASBO Gadget of the Year award. ASBO, short for Anti-Social Behavior Order, describes the gadget that could be best used to annoy people around you. But wait, who needs a gadget to annoy people? Samsung - those poor chaps - won that award fair and square with their K5 MP3 player. It won not because of its small profile and even smaller speakers, but because the "itsy bitsy" speakers are actually very powerful - almost too powerful. We also noted that Apple's iPod Nano and (*gasp!* lo and behold!) Nintendo's Wii, bagged their own prizes from this prestigious event. And look, even Bethesda Softwork's The Elder Scrolls Legends IV: Oblivion and Nintendo's Wii Sports gets to bring home something for Mommy. What is this HP IQ770 that's causing all this buzz in the desktop PC universe? For a newbie in town, it sure disturbs a lot of peace, especially so when it's being tagged as the "iMac Killer". Now, now, let's not be too hasty about our conclusions. It's better if we actually check out first what this gadget's all about before we go coining nicknames for it. Right? Fine. Let's get to know it then. Let's see...so it's got a 320GB hard drive, 2Gb SDRAM WiFi, Bluetooth, 1.3 MP camera (integrated, of course), 5.1 digital audio out, integrated FM and HDTV tuners, wireless keyboard and mouse, a widget-like dashboard interface, and 19" touchscreen...No, there's nothing really extraordinary about it. If you're a noob, that is! Talk about all-in-one! Well, actually, am not much of a techie-person, myself. But I ain't a noob either. But when they started mentioning those wireless keyboard and mouse, that got me sold solid. Yeah, so what? Some people are easy to please. But seriously, it comes out by January's end, and it will surely rock the boat of the mighty Mac. With Bill Gates tagging along. For a little under US$ 2000, at that. Let the competition begin! Keep it posted here for more updates. |

With all the pocket PCs and smartphones out in the market right now, we can probably say that the mobile market is fast becoming very saturated. Yeah, there are new models released every once in a while, but how different are they really from the previously released ones?
izenMobile promises that their new handset will stand out in the market with their Krma handset. Before you say "Yeah I've heard that tons of times before," let us share with you why izenMobile thinks they're worthy of your attention. According to them, their Krma handset combines pocket pc functionality with the smart phone appearance, and this will make their product stand out. What they're trying to do with their new handset is blur the line between Smartphone and Pocket PC devices, so while Krma may look like a smartphone with its numeric keypad, it in fact functions as a Pocket PC. Krma, along with seven other models that izenMobile will release, will all incorporate F-Origin technology to give users maximum mobile productivity. The tri-band Krma (pronounced as karma, we assume?) sports a 2-megapixel camera with flash, a 2.2" QVGA LCD screen, Bluetooth, FM radio, WiFi support via miniSD card, and 25G online storage. izenMobile has announced that they will soon be releasing this product into the market but leaves out details about the pricing and release date. We'll keep you posted. |

Four new HTC handsets were announced just this September 7th: two PocketPC models (P3300 and P3600) and two smartphones (S620 and S310). It's a good thing that the company has decided to diss their cryptic handset naming, as we saw with their first two models, the TyTN and MTeoR. Anyhoo, no need to expound on that, let us present to you already their four new handsets and the features that each of them sports:
Taster only has one preinstalled city while the Premium version has a complete set of maps for Western Europe. The P3300 has 2.8" TFT display and a 2megapixel camera on the back. It also has FM radio and can connect via GPRS,EDGE, WiFi, and USB. It has 128 internal memory and a microSD card expansion slot. ![]() The quad-band 3G-enabled P3600 model runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 for PocketPC and has HSDPA support. It sports a 2.8" LCD touchscreen display, a 2 megapixel camera for photos and a VGA one for video calls. Connectivity options include EDGE, GPRS, Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth. The P3600 also has 128 MB of internal memory and has a Mini SD card expansion slot. ![]() The S620, or better known as Excalibur, is also a quad-band and run on Windows Mobile 5.0. It has a QWERTY keyboard, a 2.4" QVGA display in landscape mode, a 1.3 megapixel camera on its back. The phone has 64 MB RAM and 128 MB internal memory but also provides a microSD card slot. Like the previous two, the phone's connectivity options are GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth (with A2DP). The HTC S620 is said to be designed to compete with devices with Samsung i320, Motorola Q and Nokia E61. A quad-band smartphone of a lower class is the HTC S310 (aka Oxygen), which has a display resolution of 176 x 220 pixels and like the others, runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone. The 1.3 megapixel camera is found on the back, and like the three other handsets mentioned above, connectivity won't be a problem as this phone has EDGE, GPRS, USB and Bluetooth support. Internal memory has the size of 64 MB but can be expanded via the miniSD card slot. We don't know yet how much these four handsets will cost, all we know is that these four new HTC handsets will be available in Q4 2006. |

Yep, another leak folks. This time, it's about HTC's alleged next PDA, the Trinity. Honestly, these get old after a while and the company's lack of official statement is not helping at all.
As featured here, in an article before, the Trinity possesses several excellent qualities like GPS and runs on Windows Mobile 5.0. Nothing was mentioned however regarding its scroll dial and FM radio. We found two videos that focus on these two. We are a bit skeptical, to tell the truth, about the dial as it somehow looks easily broken. We, reckon that the FM Radio may consume a lot of the battery power as well. But then again, that's just us. Watch the videos and tell us what you think. |
