People who are always doing business on the go should check out Verizon's new product, the UM150 wireless USB Modem for Verizon Wireless. Compatible with most computing devices - desktops, notebooks, tablets, etc. - this small, wireless modem lets you get connected to Verizon Wireless high-speed broadband. The UM150 wireless modem is optimized for Verizon Wireless to ensure higher performance compared to the usual DSL connections.

When used with Verizon Wireless' EV-DO network, the UM150 has average download speeds of 600 kbps and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps. The small wireless modem also features a retractable antenna as well as a Y-shaped extension cable for more flexibility.

The UM150 is priced at US$ 79.99 after a US$ 50 mail-in rebate, and comes with a two-year agreement with Verizon Wireless. It's certainly not free like Sony and T-Mobile's joint offer for the PSP, but still is a great deal.

Apple and AT&T are currently facing some hurdles related to the iPhone. A good portion of the consumers are trying to hack it while some aren't happy with the business and marketing moves the two are making.

Based on this info we just got, you can now add LG's Voyager as one of iPhone's future headaches. Much like the iPhone, the Voyager also sports a sleek touch screen interface. However, it has some distinct advantages over Apple's baby as it offers faster wireless web access and a two megapixel built-in camera.

For those who prefer to be traditional, the Voyager has another screen for its small computer keypad. Verizon Wireless is also going to be the exclusive carrier of the Voyager and Verizon's Chief Marketing Officer Mike Lanman had this to say, "we think it'll be the best phone this year. It will kill the iPhone."

Market analyst Avi Greengart, however, had different view, "people who want a high-end media phone and want to stay with Verizon will certainly give that one a hard look. I don't know that it would pull anybody away from an iPhone." Verizon and LG have yet to give word on the phone's pricing and release date.

We never thought they could cage the mighty Kratos, but apparently, we're mistaken. It seems Sony Pictures Television and Verizon Wireless have teamed up to bring Kratos to us in the smallest handheld possible: our mobile phones. They just announced that God of War: Betrayal has been released for people to download and play, and we certainly don't want you to miss it.

Set between the events of God of War I and God of War II, God of War: Betrayal casts you once again as Kratos, who is falsely accused of betraying the Olympians. Phone news posted some interesting images of a Motorola phone that's yet to hit the streets. It was originally named the V9m, but was later changed to V9c for a few iffy reasons. Speculations have risen on the possibility of this model actually being the anticipated LAZR or a RAZR 2 of sorts.

This phone will offer touch-screen controls and the popular BREW interface that pleased fans with its ease of use. The V9c will debut initially with Verizon Wireless but may become available with other mobile providers in the near future.

The change from "m" to "c" in the model's name is due to the fact that the mobile giant wants a clearer delineation between its multimedia phones and non-multimedia CDMA models.

Folks, there's a new BlackBerry smartphone and service in town! Wireless innovation company Research In Motion (RIM) announced the BlackBerry 8330 World Edition the other day. Likewise, Verizon Wireless revealed its new Global BlackBerry service that will provide consumers an "always-on, always connected" wireless e-mail solution.

These two, furthermore, allow users to just use local number either for domestic or international use (Australia, Europe, parts of Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and North America). Speaking of which, the Global BlackBerry Service is capable of making and receiving calls from more than 150 countries as well as send and receive e-mails in more than 60 different countries.

RIM President and co-CEO Mike Lazaridis mentioned that consumers have a lot to look forward to from BlackBerry 8330. He added,

The BlackBerry 8830 is built on an exciting new device platform that combines CDMA and GSM/GPRS roaming support with the latest in industrial design and functional innovations. This innovative and stylish smartphone includes all the benefits that users have come to love about the BlackBerry solution along with a compelling new global service from Verizon Wireless.

Both the smartphone and the service will be available on May 14 and BlackBerry 8330 will be priced for US$ 299.99. A couple of its features include:

At first we were like the others who were a bit skeptical about a tornado game. It's...a tornado. Redmond giant Microsoft announced a new DRM, PlayReady, this time aimed at mobile devices. PlayReady is designed to provide digital media options to mobile network operators. If there's one thing you can count on, PlaysForSure DRMed media can be accessed through PlayReady.

Companies such as O2, Verizon Wireless, Bouygues Telecom, and Cingular Wireless/AT&T all lined up their own mobile packages that will include the DRM package. It will provide games, ringtones, music, video, ringtones, and images for distribution through rent or subscription.

PlayReady will also be compatible with Windows Media DRM 10, so mobile phones can download DRM-protected songs from online stores and play them. Interoperability programs will be provided by Microsoft so that other DRM content providers can make use of the technology.

Although it appears as a Microsoft stunt to boost development and marketing of their DRM technology, they say that the new DRM is a critical solution in the mobile content market. PacketVideos is teaming up with Microsoft to provide optimized version of the DRM over several popular handsets. PacketVideos CEO James C. Brailean said:

Microsoft PlayReady will have an immediate positive impact on the mobile entertainment market. With the rapid growth of mobile content services, Microsoft PlayReady technology will quickly emerge as a mission-critical ingredient for new consumer applications because it combines greater flexibility for content and services with a rock-solid technology foundation.

Microsoft has made no claim as to whether PlayReady will support the Zune's DRM on MarketPlace. They expect it to be available in the first half of 2007 and will be demonstrating PlayReady at the 3GSM conference in Barcelona this week, alongside PacketVideo.

Now, you may get your fill of YouTube even without your PC, thanks to your mobile phones. Verizon Wireless and the famous video-sharing website has signed a deal that will extend the latter's coverage onto your phones.

Beginning December, the trial period will ensue, allowing you guys to post video clips more easily, of course, from your phone. So how does the deal go? Basically, VCat users paying US$ 15 a month to watch and download videos to their phones will have access to YouTube videos. These, however, are limited to only those approved by the site. Apart from this, users can also upload those short clips from the cellphones.

This is indeed progress as before, you had to submit your email address before being able to post content from mobile phones to the site. Now, you only need to use a five-digit short code. Says Verizon Wireless marketing director, Robin Chan, "The user-generated content space is a very important sector in media."

Verizon Wireless has recently included Nokia's 6215i clamshell in their lineup. A quick glance at the phone's features won't probably get you stirring but it tries to make up for its outdated camera and connectivity features by providing support for CDMA networks on the 800 and 1900MHz bands.

The new clamshell also uses 1xRTT for data and supports Verizon's Get It Now service which allows consumers to easily modify their ringtones, wallpapers, and games. The clamshell's Mobile Web 2.0 application also allows users to browse the web, check their mail, and instant messaging with friends.

The Nokia 6215i sports a VGA camera that has digital zoom and allows users to share images with friends via the Pix Place application included in the phone. A big con in getting this phone though is that it doesn't have an MP3 media player. It also scores low on connectivity as it's not Bluetooth nor Infrared-enabled.

The phone allows for up to nine days standby time and 3.75 hours of talk time and now available for $49 dollars from the Verizon Wireless website with a two-year service agreement. Whether this clamshell is something you can see yourself using for two years, you decide.
