Toshiba G40 and TX series - Image 1 Toshiba G40 and TX series - Image 2

If you're into Monster Hunter Online and you're in the market for a new laptop, you may want to check out the May 2007 releases from Toshiba. The Qosmio G40 series and the Dynabook TX series are both recommended by the game developers to run the game as smoothly as possible even while you're on the move.

The TX series packs a base processor of Core Duo 2 strength running at 1.66Ghz. It also has 1GB of memory and a large hard drive to get all those files in. The G40 series carry similar core specs, but the units in its wing have something that a lot of notebooks don't: an HD-DVD-R drive to play and burn high capacity and high definition content.

Both models are still available in Japan, but are slated for a later release date in North America later this year. Pricing is still "open" as the Japanese market terms it. We'll keep you posted for more.

QosmioToshiba is proud to release the world's first notebook to come with a DVD-SuperMulti (+R double layer) drive and an integrated HD DVD-ROM in just one optical drive, their Qosmio G35-AV660.

Toshiba's Qosmio G35 runs on Core 2 Duo T7200 at a speed of 2.0 GHz and uses Windows XP Media Center 2005 edition as its OS. It also sports a 17" diagonal Ultimate TruBrite widescreen display with 1920x1200 resolution and 1080p high-definition format. The laptop comes with an HDMI connector and has dual high-capacity 120GB hard drives.

Of course the 10.1-pound laptop has Wireless LAN, Bluetooth, Infrared, and four USB ports, it's only proper that laptops nowadays have those. But an added feature of the Qosmio G35 AV660 is the Fingerprint Reader and a Security Cable Lock Slot for your laptop's security. This Qosmio also has 1-bit digital amplifier, a built-in microphone, and Dolby Home Theater Digital Audio enhancements, giving you quality sound when listening to your MP3s.

This baby comes in Titanium Silver and Silver editions and has a one-year warranty for the battery and other parts if you buy it from Toshiba Direct. The laptop's input devices include your usual Hot Key functions, Application Launch Button, and comes with a QosmioPlayer Remote Control and MS Windows Media Center 2005 remote control. And if that's not enough, the Qosmio G35-AV660 also comes with a 5-in-1 Bridge Media Adapter and Toshiba TV Tuner which allows you to connect your laptop to the TV.

However, for something that runs tons of applications which allows for multimedia multi-tasking, the battery life is kinda short, around 2.5 hours. So, is it worth the $3,499-hole you'd be making in your pockets? You decide.

Toshiba Dynabook SS MX

Toshiba's been working overtime, introducing a load of spec changes for its Qosmio and Dynabook laptop lines.

The Qosmio F30 leads off. It's available in black or white, and comes loaded with a 1.66GHz Core Duo T2300 CPU, 128MB GeForce Go 7300 graphics card, 1GB RAM (maximum 2GB), 160GB hard drive, terrestrial digital/analog TV tuner, and 802.11b/g WiFi. So, that equates to better graphics, an already good amount of memory that can also be further extended, faster processing speeds, and the ubiquitous WiFi feature which no recently-released laptop would be caught dead without. Plus it can also be a nice, slim TV that you can bring along with you to wherever. All that for what price? 260,000 yen, or about $2,260 US.

Meanwhile, on the Dynabook side, the AX, TX, CX, and SS MX models all get their specs bumped up, gaining faster processors the higher you go up the retail cost ladder. The new processors range from 1.46GHz Celeron m410 to 1.66GHz Core Duo T2300 processors. Prices for these are starting at 160,000 yen ($1,400 US). The smallest and lightest laptop of the bunch, the Dynabook SS MX, retails at a cool 200,000 yen ($1,740 US).

All of these babies should be available in mid-to-late August, so if any of you guys want one, better start working overtime too.
