Looking for an alternative for the iPhone when it comes to coolness and features? AT&T has announced the release of the Pantech Duo handset and it features a mix of sizzle and steak. Measuring a slick 4.02 x 1.97 x 0.83 in., the Pantech Duo travels with you easily and has a QWERTY keyboard for your convenience. A numeric pad is also available for texters accustomed to traditional keypads. What's more, it's fully 3G for all your mobile multimedia needs. It runs on Windows Mobile for ease of use and sells for US$ 199.99 with a two year agreement that will bind you with AT&T. If you're down with that, give it a go and tell us what you think. |

A close relative of Verizon Wireless' CDM 180 arrives on the scene. Eye-catcher Pantech PN-218, though short and thick (3.0 by 2.1 by 1 inches), manages to weigh only 3.8 ounce. Not to be pretentious, it features modest qualities like its two colored displays (internal: 262,000-color; external: 65,000-color) that go well with its VGA camera. Aside from these, PN-218 is also a speakerphone with voice command capabilities. With a two year service agreement, this clam shell phone is available from Alltell at $50. Furthermore, Samsung comes up as well with its own clam shell. If without out a camera, SCH-A645 should be inexpensive at $10. Maybe a bit more exciting than Pantech's, this mobile boasts of 1xRTTdata access, voice recognition, and SMS messaging. It also has 65,000-color internal display although its external LCD comes in gray scale only. With a two year service agreement as well, SCH-A645 measures 3.5 by 1.8 by 0.9 inches and weighs around 3.2 ounces. |

The clamshell phone also features voice recognition, as well as a built-in camera with self timer, video recorder and player, MP3 player, a Micro- SD card slot for memory expansion, Bluetooth and tri-band features. But certainly, its fingerprint recognition feature will catch everyone's attention. It will surely heighten the mobile phone's security. Imagine this scenario: Sneaky Little Brother: Hey! Guess what I have here! You: (Indifferent) Sneaky Little Brother: I have your mobile phone, dummy! You: Okay. Sneaky Little Brother: (getting irritated) I'm gonna delete all your contacts! (tries to access the phone) I'm gonna delete all your contacts! (still can't access the phone, fingerprint incorrect) You:(laughing) You were saying? Sneaky Little Brother gives up, and hands the mobile phone to you. Security measures aside, having it in a mobile phone is just plain cool. In fact, it seems that this innovation has placed mobile phone technology into a whole new level. Who knows? Maybe the stuff we see in sci-fi movies won't be that "fictional" anymore. |

Pantech has just launched the IM-S110 slim phone that features a 2.2-inch QVGA display and a 3.2-megapixel camera. Take note that although it comes only in two colors (white and pink), this phone is feature-packed.
The IM-S110 has an mp3 player, a mini-SD card slot, an FM tuner, and a built-in dictionary for converting between Korean and English languages. Although not much details have been revealed about this unit, Pantech will be releasing the specs of the IM-S110 phone soon. And hopefully, this one's not Korea-exclusive like all the other cool mobile phones we've seen.
