Feeling excited by the slew of Kingdom Hearts titles for the handhelds? No? Well, we do. Character designer Tetsuya Nomura for Square Enix was interviewed by Japanese game magazine Gemaga, and he revealed some tidbits about Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, and Kingdom Hearts: Coded.Nomura said that the control scheme of the previous two Kingdom Hearts games for the PlayStation 2 will be retained, so we'll be likely to see real-time menu surfing while beating up the baddies. As difficult as it may sound, its actually a breeze to do after some practice. As for Birth by Sleep, Nomura said that there will be three scenarios, and players can choose which scenario to do first. There's no scenario which is more important that the others, so players can even stop in the middle of the first scenario to do another one, said Nomura. The main theme of all three scenarios will be to answer the question "Ven, who are you?", referring to the young boy who looks like Roxas. Kingdom Hearts for the PSP will use an evolved version of Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories' card battle system, as well as a mysterious "character growth system" that Nomura didn't discuss in detail at this point. Moving on to Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (he revealed that it's pronounced as "Three Five Eight Days over Two"), Nomura revealed that due to Roxa's slightly detached attitude, the Disney character treatment will be slightly different in 358/2 Days. How about the controls? Nomura revealed that they will use the stylus minimally, as they want to retain the control scheme of previous Kingdom Hearts games, with the same interface as the PlayStation 2 Kingdom Hearts titles. Instead, it will be used for an in-game chat system, but he did not clarify if it will be through the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, or through a local-based wireless connection. Multiplayer in 358/2 Days looks fun, as players will be able to choose from any of the members of Organization XIII (that's 13 playable characters!), and will have plenty of missions like defeating enemies or retrieving items. As for Kingdom Hearts: Coded for the mobile phones, it is unique in such a way that it takes place after Kingdom Hearts 2, and not a prequel like the other two games. The gameplay has not been touched upon by Nomura, but screenshots revealed that it will have the same interface as the first two Kingdom Hearts games for the PS2. Whew! That's definitely so much info. We sure can't wait for Kingdom Hearts, so you can expect us to sniff out more updates for you. Til then, stay tuned! |

Over at Japan where the Tokyo Game Show is taking the East by storm, Square Enix let loose another bombshell. This time, Kingdom Hearts games for the Sony PSP, Nintendo DS and mobile phones were unveiled. The PSP game will be known as Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep which carries the time theme of "the distant past" with it. No revelation was made as to who stars in it but sources indicate that the hero looks a bit like the Final Fantasy VII series character Zack Fair. Gameplay will be similar in style to that of the Sony PlayStation 2 games with a single player adventure taking precedence. The Nintendo DS, on the other hand gets Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. The oddly-titled project is poised to have Roxas at the helm. The news source tells us that multiplayer game modes will be available. In what manner it will be done remains to be seen. Square Enix gives it the "time of the other side" theme. Finally, there's another Kingdom Hearts game being developed for mobile phones called Kingdom Hearts: Coded. Its theme is "time has gone by," perhaps to indicate that it's set some time in the future. Gameplay is said to be based on the first two PS2 games. That's all she wrote at this point as far as new Kingdom Hearts projects are concerned. Keep it right here because we've got an entire slew of other bug news lined up. |

Heads up soccer fans, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is flying into stores in Europe on October 26 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PS2 and mobile phones. The handheld versions for the PSP and Nintendo DS will be arriving on November. The game features an all new adaptive AI called Teamvision. The AI constantly adapts to the gamer's style of play, building new ways to attack and counter and to learn from past mistakes. Konami president Kunio Eno made the announcement, expressing his own enthusiasm for the game saying: [I reckon it's] the greatest football game of all time. Demand is massive for what is easily the best Pro Evolution Soccer title to date, and we anticipate record sales as we bring the series to PlayStation 3 for the first time, and unleash stunning versions for all leading formats. |

Electronic Arts officially announced earlier today that the cover of FIFA Soccer 08 is to feature teen soccer star Jozy Altidore of the New York Red Bulls (Major League Soccer), one of only five teen athletes to grace the covers of an EA-branded game. Altidore is also the second youngest in that shortlist at 17 years old, topped by Freddy Adu who was the cover athlete for FIFA Soccer 06 when he was 16 years old. Also joining the cover athlete lineup will be 22 year old Guillermo Ochoa of the Mexican Primera Division, who will feature side-by-side with FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho for the North American versions of FIFA Soccer 08 (PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PSP, DS, mobiles). Expect to see these athletes in the covers of their respective versions by October 2007, when the EA SPORTS soccer title developed by EA Canada will be launching on multiple game platforms. The game has yet to be rated by the ESRB as of press time. |

Electronic Arts must have sensed the fans' renewed "need for speed" and that's why it just announced Need for Speed ProStreet,
the latest addition to the successful racing franchise. The new video
game title will be available Fall 2007 for PS3, 360, Wii, PC, PS2, PSP,
and DS. A mobile version is also in the works.
Among ProStreet's new features and improved graphics, EA would like to highlight the game's Autosculpt technology that allows players to directly impact their car's performance for the first time as well as personalize its appearance. EA Executive Producer Larry LaPierre commented, Need for Speed ProStreet accelerates street racing culture by providing the ultimate stage for the pursuit of street racing supremacy. This is a game about building the ultimate performance-tuned battle machine, taking it to multi-disciplinary showdowns all over the world and pitting your skills and reputation against the very best street racers. What we have below are the first ever screenshots and trailer video for the title. We usually have some reservations about a game being released on multi-platform but we have to say that we'll be keeping an eye on this one. See the trailer video by clicking on Full Article below! |
