Fi WinSIP and Skype have never got along and there may have been a bit of bad blood between the two communications provider. If you don't remember, about 2 years ago, Rohan Mahy, co-chair of IETF SIP and SIPPING Working Groups, took issue with some of the things that Niklas Zennstrom of Skype at a Voice Over Networks (VON) conference.

Much of the irritation that Mahy showed at the VON conference relates to the Zennstrom's view that SIP is a poor protocol because of its inability to handle firewall and NAT traversal. Also, both have historically been incompatible due to their using two different protocols. But judging from these two handsets, it's all in the past now.

Taiwan- based Fi Win, a subsidiary of First International Computer, Inc. (FIC), is offering two contraptions that can accomodate both VoIP networks. These are the SIP/Skype Dual Mode- WiFi Phone FX28S and SS28S. Both weigh 80 Grams, with talk time of up to 3.5 hours and up to 60 hours of standby time, and provide hassle-free and long-lasting communications.

Of course it enables you to make free calls over the internet to anyone who has the service with the latest WiFi phone communications. The only difference between them is their aesthetics- the FX28S has a LCD display of 1.2" 65K CSTN 128*96 / White LED backlight while the SS28S has a LCD Display of 1.4" B/W STN 96*65 LCD, backlight. Both are blessed with Skype Out Support.
