Sorry if this was delayed a bit, but fresh out the press release from MobileRated comes their top 25 games for gamers on the go. The future of this budding branch of the gaming industry is getting bigger and brighter every year. Hats off to the mobile phone industry's focus on selling billions of powerful units in a year and the wonderfully adaptive Java.

But let's get right down to the innards, the list. The votes are screened, the tallies chalked up and the final verdict is:

You also might want to know that the games are available for free, as usual, straight from MobileRated's site. So if you're curious as to why these 25 reign supreme, at least you know where to find them.

Yeah, we know that we said 25. Now you might wonder why there are only 10 of them up there...that's because the rest of the games are at the Full Article. Click on the link below and see what else made it to the list!

Mobile games!Ah, lists. Everybody loves lists. We love lists, you love lists. Games, too. We love games, you love games. So what about game lists? If you're into all that keeping-track-of-miscellaneous-stats jazz, then you might like this little something that we have for you today.

MobileRated has just announced its top ten free mobile games, as determined by number of downloads, from the month of November, 2006. Jamtris steals the top spot from M-SuDoKu this month, perhaps in part to competition from 5ud0ku.

Yes folks, there are two sudoku games in the top ten. Whoever said that the whole sudoku craze is dying out should be eating his own shorts right about now. Check out the list below.
  1. Jamtris
  2. M-SuDoKu
  3. Doom 3D
  4. 3D Attack Chopper
  5. vPoker
  6. Bomber
  7. Fighters
  8. Mobile Cobra Strike
  9. Dope Wars ZX
  10. 5ud0ku
Action games are still going strong in the list, with games like Doom 3D and 3D Attack Chopper cracking the top five. Doom 3D, a first person shooter inspired by the classic game, is a newcomer to the list. Doom 3D, as one reviewer said, plays more like Castle Wolfenstein 3D than Doom, but is an exciting game that taxes the horsepower of many mobile phone handsets.

Also new are vPoker, Bomber, Fighters, and Mobile Cobra Strike: respectively, a timeless casual game, a remake of a classic arcade game, a hard-core style head-to-head fighting game, and an action-style seek and destroy game.

All of the mobile phone games listed above, also known as java midlets, j2me games, java games, and/or mobile games, are presented totally free to customers. Yay for free games.

People love lists. Y'know, top tens and stuff. More often than not, us guys tend to keep a running top ten list of whatever kind of stuff we're into at the moment in our heads. Maybe it's because of our love for statistics (read: sports stats), or maybe its just because we like to be organized (when it comes to stats - but when it comes to organizing our underwear drawers we generally toss the whole concept out of the window).

Anyway, today we have another list for you list-loving mobile phone fanatics out there. MobileRated, a wap and web portal that offers free games for mobile phones, has just released a list of the top ten phones that people use to download their games. Without further ado, here's the list:
  1. The K750i: Red is hot! Or is it cool?RIM Blackberry 8100
  2. Sony Ericsson K750i
  3. Motorola V3
  4. Nokia 6620
  5. Sony Ericsson K810i
  6. RIM Blackberry 8700
  7. Nokia N70
  8. Sony Ericsson K800i
  9. Nokia 6280
  10. Nokia 6600
Not surprisingly, the high-and-mighty Blackberry is reigning supreme, lording over both the top and bottom halves of the top ten list. It must be due to all of those executives who have a lot of time to kill before they go to their high-powered meetings and stuff. Sony Ericsson, meanwhile, gets some good numbers too, with the K750i getting the number two spot.

Two more Sony Ericsson handsets made it to the top ten, while the third spot is occupied by the lone rep from Motorola: the V3. Nokia, one of the most ubiquitous mobile phone brands in the entire world, rounds out the list with four handsets: the 6620, N70, 6280, and 6600.

Y'know, it's not really surprising that all these handsets are high-end and fairly new models with lots of power and capability. Even if it's just for free mobile games, game players will go for the latest and greatest technology more often than not.

Here's the top ten:

1. M-SuDoKu
