Soccer fans, be confused no more: Konami decided to unify the Winning Eleven series under a single, consistent name - at least in the Western front. The company has confirmed that the title for Winning Eleven Soccer for US fans will now stay similar to the European version, Pro Evolution Soccer. If Konami were to keep the name for one more year, it's latest title would have been Winning Eleven Soccer 11. More at the full story. |

Konami just had a pre-TGS 07 conference in Japan and much emphasis was given to the Metal Gear franchise and all the upcoming iterations on both the Playstation 3 and PlayStation Portable. The list includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Online, and Metal Gear Solid Bande Dessine 2.
The presentation was conducted by no less than Hideo Kojima himself. He began the show by showing off new trailers for MGO and MGS 4. In the MGO trailer, the SOP system was tackled in length. This system can be used to stealthily track enemy positions and keep track of your friends. The online game will be bundled as Metal Gear Online Starter Pack and included in the package is MGO itself and MGS 4. No pricing was revealed during the presentation though. After that, Kojima showed a trailer for Metal Gear Solid Mobile as well as another video clip for Metal Gear Solid Bande Dessine 2. The good thing about this is that the original digital comic book will come bundled with Bande Dessine 2. Aside from that, Bande Dessine 2 will feature voice acting. No pricing was also mentioned. |

Heads up soccer fans, Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is flying into stores in Europe on October 26 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PS2 and mobile phones. The handheld versions for the PSP and Nintendo DS will be arriving on November. The game features an all new adaptive AI called Teamvision. The AI constantly adapts to the gamer's style of play, building new ways to attack and counter and to learn from past mistakes. Konami president Kunio Eno made the announcement, expressing his own enthusiasm for the game saying: [I reckon it's] the greatest football game of all time. Demand is massive for what is easily the best Pro Evolution Soccer title to date, and we anticipate record sales as we bring the series to PlayStation 3 for the first time, and unleash stunning versions for all leading formats. |

The Belmont family tree is branching out, and this time Konami's famous vampire hunting brood is reaching out into the mobile gaming territory with the newest Castlevania title to date, Castlevania: Order of Shadows.Taking the reins of the latest Castlevania adventure is Desmond, armed with the obligatory whips and stocked with the ever-ubiquitous Potions. Not much can be gleaned from the available screenshots as of the moment, but its safe to say that Order of Shadows is looking good for a mobile game. The game will feature 7 bosses and 13 unique enemies, unlockable difficulty settings, and 18 original soundtracks. The castle mainstays are present in Order of Shadows, including the humongous Giant Ghosts, witches, as well as the Axe Knights. We can also tell in the screenshots that Order of Shadows pretty much retains the overall castle-crawling feel that is distinct in the Castlevania franchise. Castlevania: Order of Shadows is scheduled to be released on September 18 for the mobile phones. More screenshots in the full article! |

Konami, one of the world's biggest video game publishers, has announced that three of its biggest franchises will hit mobile phones starting next month through its partnership with Glu Mobile. Under the alliance, Glu will be the official distributor of Silent Hill in September, Pro Evolution Soccer in October, and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows come fall. "This line-up clearly proves Konami’s commitment to expand the availability of its key properties across all gaming platforms," says Florian Stronk, Head of Mobile Business Department for Konami Digital Entertainment. "We are extremely pleased by the work that our dedicated European mobile development studio has delivered and we are confident that the market is going to share our excitement." Silent Hill has given gamers chills across different platform generations and will soon do the same for mobile phone users. This iteration will be set in a foggy town where you find a mysterious orphanage. One thing if you're new to Silent Hill: Fog is bad. Anything that has something to do with children is even worse. Stay on your toes because mysteries will be uncovered, as well as creepy old friends from past games. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, on the other hand, brags of licensed international teams, five stadiums, and a slew of moves and game modes to enjoy. Konami promises a realistic experience on the small screen, so get ready for it. Lastly, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows tells the story of a mysterious man named Soma Cruz who finds himself trapped in Dracula's castle. You will encounter some familiar stalwarts, and you'll find out that your character and the castle are more akin than you think. Watch out for these games while we keep you posted for more. |
