Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows - Image 1Konami, one of the world's biggest video game publishers, has announced that three of its biggest franchises will hit mobile phones starting next month through its partnership with Glu Mobile.

Under the alliance, Glu will be the official distributor of Silent Hill in September, Pro Evolution Soccer in October, and Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows come fall.

"This line-up clearly proves Konami’s commitment to expand the availability of its key properties across all gaming platforms," says Florian Stronk, Head of Mobile Business Department for Konami Digital Entertainment. "We are extremely pleased by the work that our dedicated European mobile development studio has delivered and we are confident that the market is going to share our excitement."

Silent Hill has given gamers chills across different platform generations and will soon do the same for mobile phone users. This iteration will be set in a foggy town where you find a mysterious orphanage. One thing if you're new to Silent Hill: Fog is bad. Anything that has something to do with children is even worse. Stay on your toes because mysteries will be uncovered, as well as creepy old friends from past games.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, on the other hand, brags of licensed international teams, five stadiums, and a slew of moves and game modes to enjoy. Konami promises a realistic experience on the small screen, so get ready for it.

Lastly, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrows tells the story of a mysterious man named Soma Cruz who finds himself trapped in Dracula's castle. You will encounter some familiar stalwarts, and you'll find out that your character and the castle are more akin than you think. Watch out for these games while we keep you posted for more.

Optimus Prime - Image 1The Transformers craze is hitting fever pitch with the big movie by Dreamworks and Paramount coming up on July 4 and games slated for every major platform. Don't look now, but even mobile phones are getting into it as Glu mobile announces customization and game content for your phone.

With more than 130 partners around the world, Glu Mobile is thinking well beyond American shores. Europe, Asia and South America will catch the action through downloads from mobile partners distributing the content. Right now, Glu says there are 30 wallpapers and screensavers at hand, along with voice actors for different experience to set up the perfect theme.

How about hearing Optimus Prime say "MEGATRON must be stopped no matter the cost!" every time you receive SMS? Or having him say "this is OPTIMUS PRIME - do you read me?" when someone calls you up? It's going to be Transformer-mania to say the least.

As for the Transformers mobile game, prepare to plow through 20 Decepticon-infested levels as the Autobot leader. Transform as a laser cannon-firing robot or a huge trailer truck depending on what the situation calls for. Your allies will make cameo appearances to help you in case things get tough.

Looks like the road to July 4 will be one that will have us all drooling as we wait, but while the film and games aren't here yet, let's chill out and let the excitement build up with our phones.

Gameloft - Image 1Gameloft shouts "Driver is mine!" to Glu Mobile, announcing that it has acquired the exclusive rights to develop, publish and distribute games based on Atari's Driver franchise, and that all previous Driver mobile games developed and published by Glu will be off the market on March 31, 2007.

Gameloft expects to launch its game Driver: LA Undercover in both 2D and 3D in June 2007, in time for Ubisoft's release of Driver titles. Ubisoft and Gameloft are sister companies, which may have helped Gameloft acquire the Driver license as Ubisoft also holds the PC, Wii and PSP license of Driver. Last year, Atari itself released the Xbox and PS2 Parallel line skus.

In a statement, Gameloft President Michel Guillemot said that they are excited about adding Driver to their award winning portfolio of games, and that they are confident that they can take the Driver franchise to the next level.

We wonder how the two rivaling game publishers will render the same franchise title?
