For those of you who are planning to spend the holiday season playing video games, you are in luck because the mobile division of Eidos Interactive has just released a new batch of games for your cellular phones.

All titles mentioned herein are now available. Though pricing was not announced, Eidos Interactive mentioned that you can get this information through your chosen mobile network. Check out the titles after the jump!

Here's a treat for gamers in the UK. Rumor has it that Eidos Interactive just got the rights to the BBC's highly popular EastEnders soap opera. Speculation goes that Eidos is planning to release the game as a casual title for either the DS or mobiles.

Banking on the edge of Valve Software's Steam online digital distribution mechanics, European publisher Eidos Interactive has made a deal with part of SCi Entertainment Group Plc to acquire online distribution specialist Bluefish Media.

 

Bluefish Media uses a fusion of a good selection of content to distribute and reliable technology to provide entertainment software to their consumer base. Eidos plans to use Bluefish Media as a means to effectively distribute their own New Media (mobile and PDA) content, as well as their games for the growing casual market scene.

The merger will see the complete integration of Bluefish into Eidos' New Media division. The addition of the Bluefish staff will augment the publisher's "ability to integrate online distribution" into its operations. From an official press release, Simon Protheroe, New Media and IT Director of Eidos, said:

Online distribution of digital content is a key component of our strategy. In addition to offering our games via Bluefish's distribution network, this acquisition also gives Eidos the ability to build on Bluefish's platform and to drive online sales in a much more aggressive way over the coming months.

What do you get when you mix a mobile game developer, a game title that sounds suspiciously like a well-known and well-endowed video game character, and a bunch of lawyers?

Potential legal troubles, that's what.

Ozura Mobile, makers of cellphone game Lava Kroft, may very well find itself in worse trouble than their mobile heroine. Eidos Entertainment, developer of the Tomb Raider game franchise, has been thinking of legal action against the Singaporean company due to the many similarities between Lava Kroft and Lara Croft, star of the Tomb Raider series.

Much like Lara Croft, Lava Kroft is billed as a treasure seeking young woman who can't help but find herself in dangerous situations in the search for priceless artifacts. This is especially problematic for Ozura Mobile as Eidos already has a Tomb Raider game for the mobile phone.

Bottom line: If you're planning on making a game with a similar premise as an existing game from a big developer, think of a more original name and storyline that won't get you sued.

Eidos is again out with another Lara Croft: Tomb Raider game for those who take the life out of their thumbs because of too much mobile gaming. Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: Legend, links closely to the 7th title in the Tomb Raider franchise.
