GWGeometry Wars: Retro Evolved is one of the best-selling games on Xbox Live Arcade. It was a good move on the part of Sony BMG to bring it to a platform which can easily be accessed by people on the go. Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved Mobile maintains the flashy graphics as well as the frantic gameplay that players came to enjoy since the Xbox Live version debuted in 2005.

Speaking of gameplay, Bizarre Creations added extra challenge modes to test your keypad-mashing skills.

Evolved Mobile Mode. Identical with the XBLA version, foes appear as your multiplier increases. The gameplay becomes hectic when even more enemies spawn left and right. If you're lucky enough to get a high score, it will be posted on a network leader board and local ranking table.

Immortal Mode. This is the mode for the first-time GW players. Think of it as a practice mode where you are invincible. There are no scores and multipliers, but you can still view bomb and life meters.

Challenge Modes. This is similar to the Evolved Mobile mode, but there's a pre-defined objective to achieve. The objectives under Challenge modes are: Untouchable, Survivor, Monster, Trenches, Speed, Multiplier, Feline, and Bomber. Among these, the most challenging would be Untouchable, wherein you make the most of your "one" life with no weapons or bombs. It's basically testing how long you can hold out just by dodging.

New screenshots await after the jump.

cellphoneAnother cellphone myth bites the dust as Danish scientists busted the popular belief linking cancer to cellphone use. This should reassure those who always have a cellphone in tow for the past 10 years or so.

The study tracked 420,000 Danish cellphone users and matched the records to that of the Danish Cancer Registry, which lists the names of every citizen stricken with cancer. The results are not something to sneeze at given the enormity of the database used.

The cellphone-cancer link myth has been passed on from one geek to another up to a point where some cellphone users were convinced that radiofrequency energy penetrates and toasts their brains. Though most research found no risk in cellphone use, some scientists aren't going to let the gadget off the hook easily without conducting further studies, taking into consideration slow-growing cancers.

As it stands, we're just glad that logging in an insane number of hours using the cellphone might not be a life-threatening activity after all.

Mobile phones are home to crazy and addictive puzzle games for casual gamers. Playing Splinter Cell on your mobile is too much work when you're stuck in traffic. And when you've had enough of Tetris (or variations of it), you look for more fun games that don't resemble blocks or shapes falling from the top of the screen.

Enter HandyGames' Liftboy. It's a must-have if you're up for some 1930s elevator action. The game doesn't resemble the classic Nintendo game Elevator Action, where there's some violence involved. This time, you transport hotel guests from floor to floor with the ultimate goal of getting a high tip at the end of the day. Of course, you'll have to turn on that charm and start trifling with the guests. While that may sound easy, perhaps we should mention that you, being the Liftboy, would have to cope with the hotel manager's mood swings. Worse, you also have to calm your lift's soul *insert weird music here*.

The 30 game levels will surely keep you preoccupied for hours. Oh, by the way - in case you were wondering, flirting with the chambermaids is allowed. Now you know time will surely fly...

More Liftboy screens await after the jump.

spamKeeping up with the latest trends in mobile phone technology is tough enough. Add the multitude of pesky spam crawling into your smartphone inbox, and you've got one big techno headache. It's sad to see a "can-do-anything" mobile phone relegated to just a simple call-and-text ho-hum phone. All because it's too damn painful to wait for long mail downloads, only to get tons of spam.

Fortunately, there are solutions according to Rick Broid of Lifehacker fame. While spam-filter does wonders for the traditional email system, mobile phones don't get the same treatment. Hence, the need to get a server-based solution - a system that stops spam at the source. That way, only legitimate emails get through.

Of course, not everyone has the patience to go through the process. When laziness kicks in, even the best spam-filter solution gets little attention. So there's an alternative: share your email addresses only with family, friends, and colleagues. Sure, it's an old-fashioned strategy - but it works like magic.

If that's too simple for you, then you can just sync your phone with a spam-free desktop inbox. That way, you don't have to go and pull emails straight from the server that's plagued with spam.

Oog is under attack and the Glowbos are holding on to dear life as the light that keeps them alive is being consumed by the Big Bad Bhobail. The only way to save the Glowbo race is for you to manipulate the light with the help of the Bulboids.

Okay, we're getting ahead of ourselves. The strange words we've just introduced are what make up Prism: Light The Way, a new game that will make its way into mobile phones. Thanks to Eidos, another "can't put down" game is in the works - just as we're recovering from keypad-mashing syndrome.

We felt it's not fair to drop strange words and not tell you what they are. So here goes. Glowbos are peaceful inhabitants of the black hole of Oog. They survive on light fed through an assortment of galactic matter. Terror strikes when space monster Big Bad Bhobail starts hoarding the light. To save the Glowbos from extinction, you get reinforcements in the form of friendly space creatures known as the Bulboids.

Now, we'll shut up and let you enjoy the screens.

Sega Europe is all set to make their presence felt in the mobile gaming scene when the company handpicked Rockpool Games to develop titles sporting the Sega brand. The multi-game agreement hopes to mirror Sega's success in the console gaming space to the mobile platform.

Rockpool Games now has the unenviable task of delivering kick-ass Sega games into mobile phones. Sega has yet to reveal which well-known franchises would step into the mobile platform, but something tells us that a certain Blue Blur might just speed its way in that direction. Of course, Rockpool is capable of creating original mobile games for Sega. So, we could be seeing titles that will hold their own even when compared with the solid and proven Sega game franchises.

There's a poker game for mobile phones and there's the World Series of Poker Player Advisor. Anyone who's into poker would admit that the prizes at stake on real poker games are enough motivation to make them want to be a pro. While some players build up their confidence by playing more games than the law would allow, others would be smart enough to turn to an advisor. And that's just what Glu Mobile's World Series of Poker offers.

Tagged as the ultimate poker companion, the Player Advisor tells you the odds of winning with any given hand. What's more, it recommends actions that would increase your chances of winning. It also offers tips and insider strategies for Texas Hold 'Em.

To gauge if you're learning, you can practice playing against seven computer opponents. While there's no guarantee you'd become the ultimate World Series of Poker champion, you'd at least become a better poker player while on the go.

Check out the screens and become poker-savvy.

TyTN

HTC's TyTN business phone hits Europe this month, and it's cooking up a storm. And why not? It's said to be the most powerful phone in its class because it offers download speeds five times faster than standard 3G, courtesy of High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) support. That alone will pique the interest of European businessmen who are always on the go.

While you might think that being a download speed demon is the only thing going on for this smartphone, you're quite mistaken as it's brimming with features starting off with a large display and a slide-out thumbboard. It offers a broad suite of messaging and productivity applications, as well as multimedia features - a music player with MP3, WMA, and stereo Bluetooth headset support. It has 128 MB of ROM and 64 MB of RAM. It has a memory card expansion slot so you wouldn't have to worry about not being able to download content.

The HTC TyTN is being sold for €675 ($860) without subscription.

acer ferrariBack in May, Acer introduced a line of Italian sportscar-inspired notebooks - one of which is the Acer Ferrari 5000 which features the the latest AMD-made engine. But just like the Ferrari, the notebook is reserved for the privileged few - those willing to pay a king's ransom for a brand name slapped on a high-end machine. Yeah, we're just turning green in envy and red in rage just cause we can't afford one!

But if you have lots of exta cash to spare, Reg Hardware's review of the Acer Ferrari 5000 might just come in handy.

As should be expected from a Ferrari, the design alone will definitely get a lot of heads turning. But looking beneath the surface, the Ferrari 500 is one powerful machine. With Turion 64 X2 twin-core providing horsepower, it simply screams top of the line. It comes with a 2GB of 667MHz DDR 2 memory configured in dual-channel mode - something that previous AMD processors have not been able to support.

The Ferrari 5000's 160GB of space is enough for saving loads of multimedia files. If for some reason the huge capacity isn't enough, you can always turn to MMC, SD, xD, MemoryStick and MemoryStick Pro cards, as Acer made sure the machine has a multi-format memory card reader.

Other features include an integrated Wi-FI, Bluetooth, web camera, DVD super-multi dual-layer drive, and HDMI output. That's pretty much everything you need for the ultimate multimedia experience.

Here's Reg Hardware's verdict:

The Acer Ferrari 5000 is an impressive machine, but there's that little matter of cost. At around £1,699 this laptop's anything but cheap. It is an exclusive model with top of the range features - and don't forget that sportscar marque - but the price still seems a bit on the high side. If you are, or you want a laptop that makes you feel like you have something rather exclusive, the Acer Ferrari 5000 is worth taking out for a spin. It's very expensive, but you get a lot of laptop for your money.
