Acer to launch 16-, 18.4-inch Blu-ray notebooks this Spring - Image 1

It came to our attention that Taiwan-based computer company Acer Incorporated is preparing to launch two notebooks capable of a full HD picture (1920x1080) as they come equipped with a Blu-ray drive.

Prior to all these, Acer joined the HD DVD Promotional Group in September of last year as well as the Blu-ray Disc Association a couple of months prior to that. The move, clearly, is to make sure that business remains intact whatever happens to the format war.

Anyway, the above mentioned notebooks are really something special as they serve as the world's first 16 and 18.4-inch widescreen notebook LCDs. Other specifications have yet to be revealed.

However, the Blu-ray feature will probably dictate AMD or NVIDIA graphics, not to mention a minimum of 2GB worth of memory. Acer hasn't announced an official pricing yet but the ranges should be at around US$ 1,900 and US$ 2,240 depending on the screen size.

Keep checking back here at QJ.NET for the latest on this cool babies from Acer.
