If you're a self-confessed SMS addict, then chances are you're going to be contributing to the total amount of SMS that will be sent out this year.

According to Research and Markets, two trillion SMS will be sent out throughout the whole 2008. Its latest annual report, said that SMS capability of mobiles these days is the most popular mobile data segment of communication gadgets.

Mobile content data and services pale in comparison when compared to the SMS usage of people. The authors of the report claimed that with the growing services for mobiles, services related to entertainment and information, the most popular service is going to be communication-based.

They expect that the mobile messaging revenues will have a total sum of US$ 65 to US$ 75 billion in 2008. In addition to that, because of increasing messaging traffic volumes, market saturation and increasing competition, it is expected that the whole mobile industry is going to dampen down a bit in terms of revenue growth.
