If you're hoping to get more out of your cell phone's net browser, we've got some good news for you. Developer Nitin Bhandari has announced that the Skyfire team's mobile browser is nearing completion and that a beta build will soon be available for testing.

Here's the lowdown on Skyfire (this is a first announcement after all): It's a free downloadable browser built to run on mobile phones. What makes this different from the likes of IE Mobile or the Opera browser is that its dev team reports that it carries all the major functions of a major PC browser.

What this means is that Skyfire will enable your mobile to watch videos from sites like YouTube, listen to songs from sites like Yahoo! Music, access MySpace, and browse whatever sites your fancy.

At the moment, Skyfire's only limited to private beta testing - those interested in signing up will want to visit the Skyfire site via the source link below. Skyfire will also be unveiled at the ongoing DEMO 08 conference over in Palm Desert, with a video stream to be made available by around 9:15 a.m. PST later today (January 29).
