Exploding laptop - Image 1Consider this a warning: a Samsung P10 laptop had its batteries melting under extreme heat, causing a small fire that burned a bed and part of the floor in a house in South Korea. The notebook computer was being used on a pillow when the incident happened.

Samsung officials did not provide any further details, save for the model of the Samsung notebook. Information concerning the battery's manufacturer was not disclosed as well. "We are checking details of the incident," said James Chung, Samsung's spokesperson.

In order to avoid fires caused by exploding or melting laptop batteries, It helps to make sure that the notebook is placed on a flat, non-flammable surface while on use. Another laptop-induced fire incident happened in Florida, where a Dell laptop blazed while sitting on papers placed on the sofa.

there should be a law against stupid dumb idiot clumsy people which prohibits them from using/owning any electronic device.
as with real world physics, everything should be handled with care, maltreatment and abuse will only lead to incidents on which the owner is fully responsible off. a laptop is like a car, you dont park it just anywhere, you place it somewhere safe and comfortable where it is not in any danger. so it it also not cause such havoc.
putting any computer on top of fabrics or clothes and similar things clogs its air vents thus making it overheat after prolong time, which is also the fault of the user because he didnt configured the power settings of the laptop properly.

How did that happen. I mean something like that doesn't happen very often.

IDK but my friend used his laptop on a pillow and it didn't melt or caused a fire. Sucks for South Korea.
