Lucky Asians, they get the chance to take a peek, and perhaps bring home a g-smart PDA-phone from Gigabyte Communications called the i200. Now, we haven't really seen so many PDA-phones coming from the Taiwanese manufacturer Gigabyte, since they specialize in computer component parts. However, at the 3GSM Asia World Congress in Singapore, they did showcase a bunch of new gadgets of which the i200 was a standout. The i200 packs a lot of punch, with features like onboard DVB-H and DVH-T receivers, 2.69-inch VGA touchscreen display, and a Crossbow (Windows Mobile) compatible OS. But what we recognize as most Gigabyte-ish is the fact that most of their handsets feature ambient noise generator. You can customize your background noise so that the receiver of your call would perceive you're in a party when you're really just snoozing at home. The DVB-H and DVH-T receivers let you receive TV broadcasts and even record it -- with 512MB memory to boot. Throw in a few more features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS capabilities and perhaps a bigger hard drive capacity, and this PDA-phone will make its way to the U.S. in no time. We're looking forward to it! Gigabyte hasn't revealed the pricing for the i200 yet, but it's set to launch in the market early 2007. |

Okay, a Smartphone won't make you smart, but it can certainly make organizing your day-to-day affairs a whole lot easier. Plus it'll add a few points to your slickness factor too. We're thinking that that's the main reason for the sheer amount of Smartphones that are currently out in the market today. Not that it's a bad thing, mind you. Everybody wants to look cool, and if you can get something that'll do that and proves to be useful at the same time, then by all means go for it.
Consumer electronics company Samsung has made a name for itself with its sleek and useful products, and their new full-featured Windows Mobile phone is no exception. Wrapped tightly in the black boxy goodness that Samsung does so well, the unannounced SGH-i760 is a UMTS/HSDPA and tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE slide phone that runs on an SGH-i600 engine and a 520MHz Intel processor. It has Bluetooth 2.0, 802.11b/g WiFi, and an expandable microSD slot. Just like every mobile phone that's been released recently, the SGH-i760 comes with a rear-mounted 2 megapixel camera. It also has a front-facing video camera and a decently-sized 240x320 touchscreen. For input, just slide it open to reveal a QWERTY keyboard. There has been no word yet on pricing or release, but we'll be sure to keep an eye open for any new pieces of info on this black beauty. For a sneak peek, check out the pics below. Enjoy! |

With all the pocket PCs and smartphones out in the market right now, we can probably say that the mobile market is fast becoming very saturated. Yeah, there are new models released every once in a while, but how different are they really from the previously released ones?
izenMobile promises that their new handset will stand out in the market with their Krma handset. Before you say "Yeah I've heard that tons of times before," let us share with you why izenMobile thinks they're worthy of your attention. According to them, their Krma handset combines pocket pc functionality with the smart phone appearance, and this will make their product stand out. What they're trying to do with their new handset is blur the line between Smartphone and Pocket PC devices, so while Krma may look like a smartphone with its numeric keypad, it in fact functions as a Pocket PC. Krma, along with seven other models that izenMobile will release, will all incorporate F-Origin technology to give users maximum mobile productivity. The tri-band Krma (pronounced as karma, we assume?) sports a 2-megapixel camera with flash, a 2.2" QVGA LCD screen, Bluetooth, FM radio, WiFi support via miniSD card, and 25G online storage. izenMobile has announced that they will soon be releasing this product into the market but leaves out details about the pricing and release date. We'll keep you posted. |

ASUS tries its hand at something different this time, and hopping aboard the PDA bandwagon, the software company is all ready to release its first attempt at a PDA DPS handset in the form of the P535.Weighing in at 150g, the device sports a 2.8" TFT LCD display with 65,000 colors and 320 x 240 pixel resolution. The ever-reliable SiRFStar III GPS chipset will be incorporated, as well as the Intel XScale 250MHz processor. To keep it powered and running smooth, it will house 64 MB RAM and 256MB ROM. Coming along with this sleek package is a MiniSD port, a 1300 mAh Battery Lithium, 2 megapixel digital camera, and Destinator 6 for its Navigation Software. The triband P535 might also have Bluetooth and Wi-fi connectivity, although it would lack an EDGE connection. Let's see how well ASUS pulls off this new technological venture of theirs. Coming out this December, the ASUS P535 is expected to retail at approximately US$760. For this price, would users find that the PDA's GPS capabiulities along with everything else will be worth their hard-earned cash? We'll find out soon enough. |

Four new HTC handsets were announced just this September 7th: two PocketPC models (P3300 and P3600) and two smartphones (S620 and S310). It's a good thing that the company has decided to diss their cryptic handset naming, as we saw with their first two models, the TyTN and MTeoR. Anyhoo, no need to expound on that, let us present to you already their four new handsets and the features that each of them sports:
Taster only has one preinstalled city while the Premium version has a complete set of maps for Western Europe. The P3300 has 2.8" TFT display and a 2megapixel camera on the back. It also has FM radio and can connect via GPRS,EDGE, WiFi, and USB. It has 128 internal memory and a microSD card expansion slot. ![]() The quad-band 3G-enabled P3600 model runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 for PocketPC and has HSDPA support. It sports a 2.8" LCD touchscreen display, a 2 megapixel camera for photos and a VGA one for video calls. Connectivity options include EDGE, GPRS, Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth. The P3600 also has 128 MB of internal memory and has a Mini SD card expansion slot. ![]() The S620, or better known as Excalibur, is also a quad-band and run on Windows Mobile 5.0. It has a QWERTY keyboard, a 2.4" QVGA display in landscape mode, a 1.3 megapixel camera on its back. The phone has 64 MB RAM and 128 MB internal memory but also provides a microSD card slot. Like the previous two, the phone's connectivity options are GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, USB and Bluetooth (with A2DP). The HTC S620 is said to be designed to compete with devices with Samsung i320, Motorola Q and Nokia E61. A quad-band smartphone of a lower class is the HTC S310 (aka Oxygen), which has a display resolution of 176 x 220 pixels and like the others, runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone. The 1.3 megapixel camera is found on the back, and like the three other handsets mentioned above, connectivity won't be a problem as this phone has EDGE, GPRS, USB and Bluetooth support. Internal memory has the size of 64 MB but can be expanded via the miniSD card slot. We don't know yet how much these four handsets will cost, all we know is that these four new HTC handsets will be available in Q4 2006. |

A few days ago, HP revealed the iPAQ rx4000 Mobile Media Companion. While it certainly looked impressive, the public couldn't get much from HP regarding the rx4000's features and capabilities. HP decided to throw a force field around this baby after they took the wraps off, but just recently that force field has been breached.According to reports, the rx4000 will use a 400MHz processor by Samsung. RAM is said to be at 64MB, and it will have 128MB of ROM. This upcoming handheld will also have a 2.8-inch screen with 240x320px QVGA resolution. The rx4000 will also have both Wi-Fi b/g and Bluetooth 2.0. Now the biggest thing here is that there have been references to 1GB of ROM. It seems like HP will be releasing at least one version of the rx4000 which will offer this much internal storage. The rx4000 is a multimedia device after all, so 1GB of internal storage is good news. The iPAQ rx4000 Mobile Media Companion is set to be introduced some time next month. Prices will start at $299. If you're interested in other HP products, check out this earlier QJ article. |
