Opera Mini announced for Google Android - Image 1

Here's some good news for the guys planning to switch to Google's Android platform for mobile phones. Opera Software has recently announced that its Opera Mini browser now comes with an Android-compatible build.

Given that Android's still under testing, this announcement basically means that its dev team have been given free reign to optimize Opera for their software platform. Opera Software CEO Jon von Tetzchner had this to say regarding this announcement:

Today we’re glad to deliver our mass-market mobile browser to the Android development groups. Opera Mini will be able to empower users of Android-based handsets with access to all of their favorite Web sites with popular features for smooth effects and scalable, tailored viewing.

That said, we advise the readers to keep in touch in case more related news is announced. After all, some of the features that Android's looking to churn out is interesting to say the least.
