Like the US's mobile service that protects kids from sexual predators, Japan also has the Kids Keitai SA800i. Released just this March, the service and the mobile phone itself are gaining in popularity in the country.

The best feature of this kid-friendly phone is a loud alarm on the back of the handset that gets activated by a switch (that a child turns on when he feels he's in danger). When the alarm goes off, an email containing the child's GPS coordinates is sent to the parents.
