Mobile of the future: Nokia launches Morph, a nanotech concept device - Image 1The future of mobile phones have already come through the Morph, a nanotechnology concept device by the Nokia Research Center and the University of Cambridge in UK. It's that hi-tech-looking green wristwatch to the right.

This concept technology demonstrates how future mobiles might become stretchable and flexible, which would allow users to transform their mobile device into new, dynamic shapes.

Aside from its exterior, the nanotechnology found inside it plays a key role. The technology could most likely deliver things such as flexible materials, transparent electronics and self-cleaning surfaces.

With the launch of this concept device, Dr. Tapani Ryhanen, Head of the NRC Cambridge UK laboratory commented that:

We hope that this combination of art and science will showcase the potential of nanoscience to a wider audience. The research we are carrying out is fundamental to this as we seek a safe and controlled way to develop and use new materials.

It's still just a concept for now. But you bet we'll be right on this baby's tail once it turns to reality. So keep it posted here for more updates.
