After seeing both Sony and Microsoft come up with their plans to release their own motion sensing controllers - or at least, rumored to be - it's not much of a surprise at all to see other companies follow suit. We're talking about the Asus Eee, by the way, and somehow drawing a connection between the ultraportable laptop and the games console may be a bit of a stretch...until you see some similarities in the FCC exhibits report image. Taiwan-based company PQI has recently released their Traveling Disks series, called the "H Series". Although it looks nothing like their flashy thin flash drive, the H Series doesn't lag behind in the features department.

The H series members are all Windows Vista ReadyBoost supported. Aside from that there is also a built-in Webaroo offline browser. Webaroo downloads and saves internet packets of the website of your choice so the user could browse online contents offline using a laptop, PDA or a smartphone.

Current models of the H series are the Cool Drive U310H, U350H and U339H. 512MB to 4GB variants are available and aside from the features mentioned above, they also boast faster read and write performances. Here's a cool feature for what's to come in mobile tech. Microvision has recently announced the release of their miniature digital projector - that little device on the right. The projector, according to Microvision, is designed to be embedded in future generation cell phones and PDAs, allowing users to beam images of their videos onto a nearby flat screen - like a wall. And to give you guys an idea of the unit's size, that rectangular object beside it is actually a mint chocolate piece.

Since the thing is still a prototype, don't expect to find it in your shops anytime soon. However, for the guys who want a closer look, Microvision will be unveiling this gadget on this week's CES event in Las Vegas. Given the other previous announcements regarding the CES, we're expecting it to be something a tech fan's Nirvana for the next few days.

Still, it would have been cool to see this thing mounted on a PSP or DS, and the possibilities it could mean for modding. Just think - Projector + GPS Pack = Shion's palm pilot from Xenosaga.

A few months back, we mentioned something about Phantom Entertainment's Phantom Lapboard. Just what in the world is it? The Lapboard integrates a wireless laser mouse and a wireless keyboard with programmable hotkeys, plugged into a platform which makes it desktop and laptop friendly. Plus, the keyboard can rotate left or right, so lefties and righties could find it a joy to use. This baby is blessed with an almost $130 price tag.

Phantom Entertainment, formerly known as Infinium Labs and creator of one of 2005's top vaporware, Phantom Console, is still unable to shake off their dubious image. But it seems that the Sun is shining a bit on the company nowadays. Why is that? Apparently, Dell-owned Alienware has placed orders for the Phantom Lapboard which will be used for their Media Center PCs and PC gear product line.

According to Alienware Senior VP Frank Azor, "implementing the Phantom Wireless Lapboard as part of our Media Center solutions is an important extension of these key features, providing users with a convenient, flexible way to both work and have fun without being tied to a desk." As to how many Lapboards were ordered by Alienware, well, nobody knows. Your guesses are as good as ours.

Hopefully, the beleaguered company could fully take advantage of this opportunity. They should know that they are given something that most banged-up companies could only wish for, and that is a second chance.

The average laptop doesn't look so spiffy. At first glance, all you have is a black, blue, white, silver, gray, or any not-so-striking color with some vague logo on the cover. A lot of business people don't mind carrying their nondescript mobile presentation tools, but there's got to be a way to improve how it looks on the outside. Laptops are made specifically to offer portability to the user. Unfortunately, laptops are still fragile digital devices that are prone to picking up damage unless properly outfitted with, and secured, in a case during transport.

Adding to the conundrum is the ironic fact that portability is almost always hindered in direct proportion to the durability, thickness and protective properties of the case being used.

In other words, the more protective laptop carrying solutions usually come with the unwanted side effect of being heavy and cumbersome; while the light and easy to carry laptop cases are more portable, but offer little protection as a trade off.

The trick is to find a laptop case that is both strong enough to offer protection and also portable. Finding a case that fills both of these necessities is difficult enough; finding one that you can walk around with and not look like a tool is near impossible!
