Starting today, Japanese students can now take classes on the mysteries of pyramids by streaming PowerPoint presentations on their tiny screens. The service is free, but it is only available to SoftBank users. There are plans, however, to expand the service to other mobile carriers.

SoftBank, the leader in Japanese telecommunications, owns 71% of the virtual campus. Since Cyber University was established back in April earlier this year, 1,850 students have signed up to take online courses. While all lessons are only available online, president Sakuji Yoshimura is proud of the attendance rate at 86%. Soon, when more lectures can be accessed via mobile phones, these students will find education at their fingertips.
