It was recently revealed that Disney and Capybara's Critter Crunch was awarded the Best Game Award at the Independent Game Festival (IGF) which was held as part of the 2008 Game Developers Expo.

This addictive game for mobile phones has players feeding Biggs various critters in an effort to make him grow bigger and eventually rise to the top of the food chain. Walt Disney Internet Groups' vice president of Mobile EMEA Sunil Gunderia commented on the game and why it won:

Critter Crunch is a superb game which exemplifies the best values for mobile play: beautifully designed with great graphics, easy to pick up and play and yet endlessly challenging.

It might be interesting to know that the IGF, which was founded in an effort to encourage innovation in game development, has been running for ten years now and that this is the first year that the event has made awards specifically for mobile games.
