Cell phones to protect childrenKeeping your kids safe is what every parent wants to do. A new feature for your kids cell phone will help warn kids when they are in an area where a known sexual predator lives.

Joe Dawson was one of the many who petitioned to have stricter penalties for sex offenders increased. He has also teamed up with a California based company, CAT Communications Inc, that uses Global Positioning System to warn parents what their kid is in an area where sex offender’s home is. They are the first to add this feature.

Parents can make a listing through the Family Watchdog’s national database of all the known predators in their zip code and through email, text message, or pager their child will be warned. And it will be updated whenever there are additions.
The cost is $19.99 USD a month for the first phone and $9.99 USD for additional phones. It will be available in the next 60 days.
