Blizzard talks World of Warcraft movie, confirms BattleChat mobile

Blizzard talks World of Warcraft movie and WoW on mobile phones - Image 1


Last month, rumors were running around about World of Warcraft moving to mobile phones. While we won't exactly be able to play World of Warcraft on mobile phones, we may soon see a mobile service for World of Warcraft gamers.

The plan came to light a bit more clearly earlier this month when a patent filed by Blizzard was found describing a new mobile service called BattleChat. During DICE 2008, Blizzard's co-founder Frank Pearce revealed more on about this:

it would be really cool — is if we could have a client on your mobile device like that that hooks you into your guild chat in the game. [...] Or the ability to view your in-game mail or view your in-game auctions. We probably wouldn't allow you to actually buy or sell via the mobile device, but you could certainly monitor.


Although we have to wait and see if this service would actually pull through. Right now, BattleChat is still in the works but with the way Pearce was talking about it, Blizzard's really excited about it.

Pearce also talked about the WoW movie, saying that the film was delayed because of the Writers' Strike, but that they are now looking for directors. He also said that their standards for the movie are equal to that of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, so we should be in for quite a ride.
